Red Latina Heading South For Summer
17 04 2006To match stories in other parts of the country on how prominent Hispanic/Mexican/Latino “community activists” and pro-immigration advocates who are illegal aliens are being deported, one Cecelia Velazquez, an illegal alien residing in St. Louis for the last several years, who was an archon behind several Spanish language media sources in the area, has been deported to her native Mexico.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch telling of the story has these sad paragraphs, sad in terms of that we get the Hobson’s Choice between he and Miss Battle-Ax, Queen of the Nursing Homes, this November. Emphasis added:
Politicians - including U.S. Sen. Jim Talent and U.S. Reps. William
Lacy Clay Jr. and Russ Carnahan - wrote letters of support for
Velazquez. Carnahan’s letter, for example, noted that Velazquez “demonstrated a lot of community service,” said Carnahan spokesman Glenn Campbell. But those letters, Campbell said, came late in the legal process.Velazquez said she thought those heavy-hitters would have staved off her deportation. “All the big guys were trying to get a special deal for me,” she said.
‘It’s unfortunate’
Yes, Miss Velazquez, I suppose it is, because Jim Talent hasn’t given me my “special deal” yet.
[...] Claire McCaskill might be talking the talk, while Jim Talent is walking the walk (or, voting the vote), for now. But what makes me nervous about Talent is that all his TV ads are sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, which wants the cheap labor — if Talent wins, look for him to turn Judas. (Don’t forget, Talent went to bat to try and keep the Red Latina from getting deported earlier this year, so his votes and his actions send mixed messages.) McCaskill might be saying the right things to get elected, but her party relies on the racial alien vote. [...]
