Movie producer Dallas Austin, producer of the recent movie “ATL,” and both that movie and Mr. Austin have been mentioned on this blog recently, was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for cocaine possession.
Originally, UAE authorities sentenced him to four years in a Dubai jail and immediate deportation afterwards. But ole Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) went to work and sprung him loose. According to this article, Hatch and Austin share a mutual attorney in the Atlanta area.
I wonder what role the “Portgate” scandal and its ultimately being tabled played in this little affair.
