MSM Links Chicano DWI Tendency To Culture

Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer suggests that binge drinking is especially macho for young Hispanic men, of which they note that North Carolina has many.  They also genuflect to “far from home,” “lonely,” “no family and church,” though the Hispanic culture is also macho to the point where a man is considered a sissy if he prostrates himself to what many people would think are his domestic responsibilities.

Victim’s Name Is A Hint

A 13-year old Queens, N.Y. teenager is in custody and charged with manslaughter, after he and 13-year old Guarionex Montas got into a fight in an outdoor basketball court, and the injuries that Mr. Montas suffered wound up hemorrhaging his brain enough to kill him.

Obviously, the name of the suspect is not being released, but using the name of the victim as a hint, I doubt that his name is anything resembling Abraham Rothstein.

Somebody Alert Stephen Jay Gould

Because there’s no such thing as racial differences (???), people are pretty accurate in delineating race (as well as gender and age) based simply on silhouette sketches.

AP Admits

In an article about meth usage going down in Minneapolis-St. Paul:

Officials feared that methamphetamine from Mexico would simply fill the void. And while authorities in some places have noticed an uptick in imported meth, others are hopeful that meth use is starting to wane.

Wait until Minnesota “Ices” over.

Shauntay’s Got A Cell

Shauntay L. Henderson is a reported gang bangerette in the Kansas City area, who is charged with one murder, and is suspected or a person of interest in many more murders, and many many more shootings.  She was the only woman on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List until she was arrested.

Depending on what comes out of the wash in regards to her exploits, she might qualify as the first woman BSK on our registry.

So Much For Drug-Free Schools

As I read this story, I contrasted this with the “Bong Hits for Jesus” question in Alaska and currently in front of SCOTUS.

As Franklin High School mourned one of its own Friday, investigators continued to piece together how 18-year-old Leonard Hunter — a repeat felon and much-loved football player — ended up shot to death in an Everett stairwell.

Investigators are silent on claims by neighbors that Hunter on Tuesday was actually killed with his own gun, having lost control of the pistol during a fracas with a man he may have been trying to rob.

Once again, not his gun. He’s a convicted felon, so he couldn’t own any gun, and even if he had no rap sheet, he’s under 21, so he couldn’t own a handgun.

Since age 16, records show, Hunter had been convicted or entered no-contest pleas to charges of residential burglary, forgery and first-degree theft — all felonies.

Hunter apparently also had trouble with a neighbor — Michael Davis, 26, a convicted drug dealer who was arrested last year while allegedly driving a car carrying $1,830 worth of crack cocaine and a loaded pistol. Hunter asked in February 2006 for a restraining order after alleging that he’d been threatened by Davis, who lives next door to Hunter’s family in a massive Rainier Beach apartment complex.

At Franklin High, students have erected a makeshift shrine to Hunter in a lobby. Students have left dozens of messages, thanking him for his kindness and wishing him peace in death.

If Mr. Hunter was not himself a drug dealer, it looks like his murder was a direct consequence of the illicit drug trade. If a “Bong Hits for Jesus” banner shouldn’t be allowed because the pro-drug message interferes with the school’s anti-drug mission, then having a memorial glorifying a drug-involved ne’er-do-well shouldn’t either.

One difference between these two cases is that the BHFJ banner was rolled out at a school-sanctioned event outside of school premises, while this memorial, which essentially glorifies dope peddling, is inside the school.

It seems like certain schools take their anti-drug mission more seriously than others. To borrow Lizz Brown’s phrase and to turn it against her, it’s not about the anti-drug mission, it’s about the race of schools that pursue it.

P-D admits that most illicit heroin in the St. Louis area comes from Mexico.  Last week, NBC admitted that 80% of a new form of meth, called “Ice,” which does for meth what crack did for cocaine, comes from Mexico.

European Islamic Union

EU bans “jihad,” “Islamic” and “fundamentalist” from its member states’ official prose and public policy documents.  Charles Martel must be rolling over in his grave.

I wonder if the EU would ban “crusade,” “radical Christian,” “right wing extremist,” “far-right,” “fascist” and “Nazi.”

Governor Arnold Slay

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger convened a summit meeting Thursday at the Capitol with about 30 mayors and police chiefs from cities plagued by gang violence throughout the state, including Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and L.A. Police Chief William Bratton.

Schwarzenegger said he wants to focus on a variety of strategies, including providing alternatives to youth such as after-school programs and better career education.

If he would have added “recreation centers,” then I could say that the transformation is complete. Arnold Schwarzenegger has become Francis Slay. They both oppose real immigration reform, which would be the most effective way to cut down on gang violence.

They Put A Spell On Me

Rock Head took the stand yesterday in his own defense and admitted to shooting Sgt. William McEntee, but said that he was in an insane trance due to his younger brother dying earlier in that fateful day.

This has to be a big emotional blow to the folks over at MySpace Free Kevin Johnson.  They have been saying that KJ/RH didn’t actually do the shooting.

Thankfully, Criminals Tend To Be Stupid

Nineteen-year old Christopher Allen faces charges of trespassing and leaving the scene of an accident, and will probably get rapped with grand theft auto, after he ripped off a $94,000 Porsche Cayenne SUV from Plaza Motors in Creve Coeur, led police on a high speed chase, and crashed in downtown St. Louis.

There’s a reason why car thieves tend to steal common car makes. That’s because it decreases their odds of being caught too soon. I think an almost six-figure Porsche SUV would be missed.
