Associated Press Lobbies Against Use of Death Penalty in Missouri

13 05 2007

A tale of five murderers.

I suppose now that the AP thinks that the only people who should be eligible for the death penalty are those who never touched a drink or an illicit drug, and who had two-parent families throughout the whole of their childhoods. Perhaps the AP also thinks that the lack of a two-parent family and the person’s abuse of alcohol or illegal drugs, like mental retardation, ought to be a legal disqualification for the death penalty.

It’s just too bad that the fact that these men did abuse drugs or alcohol, and didn’t have stable two-parent families while growing up, doesn’t mean that their victims are any less dead.

Also, this is the same liberal wire service that makes us think that single-parent families or “non-traditional” families aren’t any less morally worthy than mother-father ones, and that the only kind of people who make that case are crazy bigoted moral fundagelicals.

What’s amazing is that the AP got through a whole long article berating the death penalty without a single use of the words “race” or “racist.”
