No Postings From 5/30 Through 6/4

29 05 2007

We’re off to the South Carolina High Country (“Upcountry,” in Southern lingo) for the Council of Conservative Citizens 2007 National Board Meeting and Conference.

I have left you with plenty of reading material.  That is, unless you’re coming to the Conference, too, which would be even better.

MO Supremes: Collective Bargaining OK for Public School Teachers, Public Employees

29 05 2007

But it does not appear that they permitted strikes.  So don’t celebrate yet, AFSCME.  Bricks won’t stand long without mortar, and likewise, collective bargaining is useless without the privilege to strike.

Chavez Changes Venezuela’s Name Back to Manor Farm

29 05 2007

If you’re going to take on a dictator and all his guns, that better be one strong back

I thought he was going to save Venezuelans from the big bad evil repressive gringo monster. Now all that remains to be seen is whether Hugo Chavez bears a greater resemblance to Napoleon or to Snowball.

Dyslexia: The New ADD

29 05 2007

Though I don’t think they’re peddling pills for Dyslexia just yet.  Much of the same hustle exists in England as it does here, that over-diagnoses of these conditions are a way for school systems to tap into extra “mental health” funds.

It has been found that any number of ADD “advocacy groups” are heavily sponsored by the pharmaceutical firms that produce and sell ADD medicines.

Anarchists “Xcel” In Not Knowing the Score

29 05 2007

Minneapolis-St. Paul area anarchists are planning to crash the party when the Republicans convene at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Enter for the Republican Presidential Nomination Convention in the late summer of 2008. They’re upset that some people are actually pretending to enforce immigration law.

If the Republicans nominate an amnestyaire like Giuliani, McCain or Huckabee at that convention, the irony, not to mention the density of anarchists, will be so noted.

Learning? That’s a Gringo Thing.

29 05 2007

That infamous attitude among some young blacks that learning is a “white thing” and should be avoided?  It’s worse among Hispanics.

Good Strickland, Bad Strickland

29 05 2007

There’s a dark side to Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, who at one time expressed public opposition to President Bush’s plan to resettle 7,000 Iraqis here, and namely Ohio. Of course that 7,000 will have three more zeros added to it before long.

But don’t count on him to be the Buckeye Bilbo. From Campaigns and Elections via Modern Tribalist:

Governor Ted Strickland and former state Sen. C.J. Prentiss, the Governor’s Special Representative for Closing the Achievement Gap, will host a conference tomorrow, May 30, in Columbus focused on increasing the graduation rate of African American males.

“The low graduation rate of African American males is a problem with widespread implications for our state,” Strickland said. “We need to work to keep these young people in school — for the benefit of themselves, our communities and the economic strength of the state.”

In the 2004-05 school year, only 64.4 percent of black males graduated from high school in Ohio, compared to white males at 88.2 percent. Overall in the 2004-05 school year, 68.4 percent of black students graduated from high school in Ohio, while 89.8 percent of white students graduated.

Easy solution to the problem: Just give every man of color in Ohio a high school diploma as a civil right of his reaching his 17th or 18th birthday. That way, all the social ills that Gov. Strickland reminds us that are a domino effect of lower high school graduation rates for the demographic will disappear.

This Will Be Our Fault Soon

29 05 2007

He was on a jet ski without a life jacket on Lake Pontchartrain, which isn’t really a lake, but backage from the Gulf of Mexico, and thus has ocean-like undercurrents.  If you do that kind of thing, it’s not if you’ll fall off the ski, into the lake and drown, but when.

Nevertheless, I’m waiting for white people and white racism to be blamed.  The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has already greased those skids.

Oh Marry All Ye Faithful

29 05 2007

Most likely not to cheat

Live Science:

People who are socially dominant and either very friendly or very antagonistic tend to be more sexually promiscuous, according to a new study.

Friendly, warm people may enjoy sharing their warmth with others by sleeping with them, whereas antagonistic people may sleep around to avoid having a monogamous relationship. And having a dominant personality makes it easier to approach potential partners.

Past studies have suggested that people who are dominant tend to have more sexual partners than people who are submissive, but there has been little research into whether a person’s level of interpersonal warmth — the way in which they interact with others — affects their sexual actions.

Ladies: This means that if you’re looking for a potential husband that won’t cheat, you will need to latch on to someone with all the charisma and sophistication of Jon Q. Arbuckle. Lizz should stop playing hard-to-get; she will find none more faithful.

Mapping the Wrong Course

29 05 2007

Reuters:

NAIROBI (Reuters) – Kenya launched a new national atlas on Tuesday that seeks to unearth links between poverty and the environment in a country which, like many in Africa, depends heavily on farming and tourism.

More than three-quarters of Kenya’s 35 million people rely on agriculture for a living, but management of scarce resources is often poorly understood — leading to misuse and conflicts.

For the first time, the atlas, “Nature’s Benefits in Kenya,” binds natural data like water sources, wood supply and wildlife populations to information including human habitation, economic activities and household expenditure, its authors say.

Kenya’s planning and national development minister, Henry Obwocha, said the atlas would help formulate government policy, and Kenya’s Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai also praised it.

IQ-poverty has a much statistically stronger correlation, I predict.

Send Him to the World Bank

29 05 2007

Reuters:

BRUNSWICK, Georgia (Reuters) – President George W. Bush is likely to announce this week a candidate to replace World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, who resigned after a storm of criticism over a salary increase for his companion, White House spokesman Tony Snow said on Tuesday.

(snip)

Among other names that have been mentioned are Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer, 63; former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, 79; and U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, 53, although Republican sources say Fischer and Volcker seem unlikely. Another possibility, former Tennessee Republican Sen. Bill Frist, has said he does not want the job.

Pick Gutierrez. That way, he will be in a position to where he could actually implement his suggestion that we should pay illegal aliens to sneak across the border. That way, it’ll prime the anti-immigration pump faster than anything.

Is there some unwritten rule that every time the establishment wants to make some major decision about banking, or wants to screw us over in the same, that they have to make the decision in coastal southeastern Georgia?

“Have a Great Day”

29 05 2007

AP:

FISHKILL, N.Y. – In the day room, white-haired men in robes watch “The Price is Right.” Out on the balcony, another looks through bars as he fidgets from side to side.

Prisons have been dealing with the special needs of older prisoners for years, but the one here in Fishkill state prison is considered unique because it specializes in dementia-related conditions.

The unit — 30 beds on the third floor of the prison’s medical center — is a first for New York and possibly the nation, though experts say it likely won’t be the last as more people grow old behind bars.

The unit has the clean-white-wall feel of a nursing home — but for the prison bars. A marker board in the day room includes a picture of a sun with a smiley face and a reminder to “Have a great day.” The activity calendar lists puppies on Thursday and bingo on Friday. As long as they behave, patients can wander from their rooms to the day room.

“Have a great day.” And they’re old men in prison. Not even they are so stupid or dense that they wouldn’t know the phoniness of it all.

Reading Is Un-Senatorial

29 05 2007

Reading is fundamental to noticing legislative scams, as he found out

CNN:

A new biography of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has once again raised the issue of whether members of Congress read a key intelligence report before the 2002 vote to authorize war in Iraq.

Clinton did not read the 90-page, classified National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq, according to “Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

For members of Congress to read the report, they had to go to a secure location on Capitol Hill. The Washington Post reported in 2004 that no more than six senators and a handful of House members were logged as reading the document.

They’re assuming that politicians read the junk they pass. When GATT was ratified in 1994, it was so long that it exceeded 10,000 printed pages. Then-Sen. Hank Brown (R-CO), was the only Federal politician who claimed to have read the whole monstrosity, and said that because of it, he changed his vote from Yes to No.

I understand the same thing is happening with the 600-page Senate Amnesty bill, that some ambivalent Senators are cooling to the proposal once they read the whole thing. Most of those that vote for it won’t actually read a word of it.

Responsibility is a Two-Way Street

29 05 2007

HRC can’t get the damned village off her mind.

AP:

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Presidential hopefulHillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it’s time to replace an “on your own” society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an “ownership society” really is an “on your own” society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

Trouble is, “shared responsibility and prosperity,” taken literally, is a two way street. Certain people and groups “share” in the “prosperity” in that they do a lot of taking and not much giving. Though I doubt that her phrase is meant to be taken literally, it’s meant as code words for more indiscriminate social welfare spending.

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

Except the Senate Amnesty bill, which she will probably vote for, will ensure that corporate CEOs succeed in the global economy, not the middle-class.

Another thing I have to keep repeating is that the working middle-class cannot possibly succeed or thrive if the economy is global, because globalization is a construct of the economic elite to eviscerate all economic classes between dirt poor and filthy rich, mainly to benefit the filthy rich.

President Bush Declares Semantic Warfare on Amnesty Foes

29 05 2007

It all depends on what the definitions of “America,” “enforce our border,” “reform,” “comprehensive,” “decency,” “respect,” “courage,” “fencing,” and “barriers” are.

And here’s Bush’s laugh track moment:

Bush chastised those who say the proposal offers amnesty to illegal immigrants. He called it empty political rhetoric.

At least when Bill Clinton obfuscated with words, the only one he tried to muddle up is “is.”

MRSA Heaven

29 05 2007

Public health authorities now fear that methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), once thought of as a a hospital and locker room infection, will become an epidemic among any group of people that are simultaneously bereft of good hygiene habits, and are crowded closely together as a matter of regular existence. The article speculates that the “urban poor” (read: blacks and Hispanics) in public housing projects, jails and prisons, are sitting ducks for MRSA.

The next MSM article on this subject will say that white racism is at fault, because it causes the poverty, which in turn causes the crime, which is why blacks and Hispanics are forced into projects and hoosegows.

A simpler idea would be for the NAACP-LDF and MALDEF, with the assistance of the ADL and Morris Dees, to sue the MRSA bacterium for civil rights violations.

Adding to the Theses

29 05 2007

Let’s see: (1) Open borders mania. (2) Anti-gun fanaticism. Once I get this list to 95, I’ll have to find a hammer.

Rev. Michael Pfleger, a white pastor of a black Catholic parish in Chicagograd, People’s Republic of Illinois, announced that gun dealers and gun control opponents are Satanic, and should be killed.

If one of his fanatical parishioners takes him up on his advice, I would be surprised if the Cook County State’s Attorney actually files any charges against him. Therefore, the ball is in Benedict XVI’s Court. We’re all waiting for the news that there was a call made from Vatican City to Chicagograd, when someone asked for someone else’s figurative badge.

Americans Booed Again In Mexico

29 05 2007

Miss USA Rachel Smith, part Hispanic (Panamanian-American) herself, last night at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. This happens with relative frequency in USA vs Mexico sporting events played not only in Mexico, but in former American states and cities that are now part of Mexico, like Los Angeles and Arizona.

Still want amnesty, President Bush?

Yes, they hate us, but they sure like our welfare checks.

SCOUTS Squelches Lawsuit Flood

29 05 2007

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled today that lawsuits brought over pay, wage and salary discrimination for racial reasons cannot be brought if the discriminatory torts are excessively old.  It was a 5-4 decision, and if one of the judges voted the other way, the Federal courts would have seen a flood of lawsuits over things that happened in the 1960s.

American Government vs Dispossession

29 05 2007

President Bush announced today that the American government will enact sanctions against the Sudanese government, in order to punish them for their violent dispossession of black animists, Christians and other black non-Muslims by the Muslim government in the Darfur region of the country.

Some of this charity should begin at home. He should have announced that the American government will do what it can to stop the violent dispossession of American whites by black and Hispanic crime, as well as the double-standard white judicial, social and corporate system, in major cities and other large swaths of the country, and in regards to their economic prosperity and standard of living.

When One’s Job Becomes Obsolete

29 05 2007

P-D:

Steve Sorocko retired in one piece, a laudable feat for any big-city cop with 41 years on the job but especially for one who spent most of it on the bomb and arson squad.

It was decades of pipe bombs, fire-for-profit schemes and grisly deaths by the hundreds.

But nothing matched the early 1980s, when an underworld feud within the so-called Syrian organized crime family here exploded — literally and figuratively.

In arguably the most dramatic moment, Jimmy Michaels Sr., patriarch of the clan, was killed when a remote-control bomb ripped apart his car as he drove along Interstate 55 in south St. Louis County. The brazen act triggered a series of retaliatory acts that included two more car bombings.

“A car bombing is like a signature,” Sorocko, 62, said in a recent interview. “You don’t know who did it, but you kind of know where it came from.”

The investigation into that bloody feud shaped Sorocko’s career, both professionally and, years later, personally. By coincidence, he met and married a granddaughter of Michaels.

Sorocko became a trusted member of an investigative partnership with federal authorities, and remembers sometimes withholding information from his own department.

(snip)

The case whetted his appetite for knowledge of all 19 car bombings in the St. Louis area from 1962 to 1981. His research made him the go-to source for local, state and federal prosecutors tackling organized crime across the region.

He probably did a very good job, but his “job” was becoming obsolete even then.  Unlike black drug gangs, if you didn’t get mixed up with the mafia, the mafia didn’t get mixed up with you.  If the enforcement resources are so limited that the choice is between investigating black gangs or the mafia but not both, the answer is the black gangs.

Bond is a No

29 05 2007

On the Omnibus Senate Immigration Bill, as it is currently written.

KMOX’s headline says that Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO), wants that taken out of the bill which President Bush claims is not the essence of the bill.

KISS: Keep It Simple, Senator

29 05 2007

If you’re a 17-year old Missourian, a bill by Sen. Jack Goodman (R-Mt. Vernon) would have required that you retain the services of a Philadelphia Lawyer to know when and under what circumstances you are a legal adult and when you are a juvenile. The bill died at the end of this year’s session of the General Assembly.

I would prefer the General Assembly to pass a bill to make it even more simple. Either you’re a legal adult at 17, with all the rights, responsibilities and privileges of one, or you’re not, with none of them. No lawyer required.
