You Can Tell That Many Members of the Congressional Black Caucus Aren’t the Sharpest Tacks in the Rug

Senate passes a Dung Heap-sponsored resolution today apologizing for slavery but making the explicit stipulation of no reparations.  Conveniently, it was passed by voice vote, so we’ll never know who voted which way.  Except we can be pretty sure which way Ted Kennedy and Lindsay Graham voted.

The House CBC opposes this, precisely because of the no-reparations clause.  Evidently, they have not learned from President Obama and most major level elected Democrats of the present and recent past that this doesn’t matter, and that Machiavellian tactics measure.  If the CBC had any brains, they would let this resolution sail through, wait on a a year or two or three of Obama judiciary picks, then file a lawsuit in Federal court asking for reparations, which they will win.  That’s the way the far left has gotten all the crap they want; Democrat elected officials smile in your face, call you friend, and promise no liberal shit.  And they usually follow up on the third promise, except that they rubber stamp every liberal judicial nominee that will order the liberal shit by fiat.

For the unaware, they’re talking about the stretch of Illinois Route 13 between Marion and Carbondale, which is usually pretty busy.  As it’s my daily commute, I might have inadvertently caused a few accidents during rush hour :)  It is a four lane divided road with a grass median, but not a freeway.  A similar comparision would be Highway 94 in St. Charles County between I-70 and Highway 40/61 (now I-64), except for the parts that are now multiplexed with the Page Avenue Extentsion (Route 364), that short part being a freeway.  Route 13 is that same kind of road, with almost as much traffic.

As it is, all they want to do is add one lane in each direction between Marion and Carbondale, to make it a six lane divided road.  What really needs to happen is to convert that part to a freeway with continuous one-way outer roads, the interchange of IL 13 at I-57 in Marion is already a free-flow cloverleaf, so no upgrade there would be required.  Perhaps such a freeway could be I-157.  But neither option is going to get the time of day until you click above.

It appears unlikely baseball will challenge Harper’s right to come out early, not when the industry is signing 16 year-olds in foreign countries, especially from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Hughes argues that it’s not a fair comparison. In the Dominican Republic, the majority of players don’t have the educational opportunities or career options available in the U.S. And the Dominican players who sign at 16 spend years at baseball academies on the island until they are physically and mentally ready to start climbing through the farm systems in the U.S.

Gary Hughes is right, it’s not a fair comparison.  DR players are cheaper and more exploitable; scouts and teams love them because, unlike Americans and those on American territories, non-Americans don’t have to be drafted, and therefore aren’t guaranteed any money.  If they don’t put out, no harm no foul.  White boy has the audacity to expect to be paid well and not be tossed in the trash can at somebody’s arbitrary desire, and even if he flops, he’s a millionaire.  That’s why the scouts are so down on Harper, not because he won’t be any good, it’s that the scouts work for bosses that would rather not pay him.

The DR is probably the fake birth certificate capital of the world; all the time I’m hearing stories that a supposed 16-year old who just got signed with an MLB team isn’t that old yet.  And it starts even younger than that — Remember Danny Almonte?  What I never got from that whole scandal is this:  I’m going to choose my words carefully, because this is something that demands circumspection.  But believe me — when you’re dealing with a young man that is an amateur team athlete, there are numerous situations on a regular basis where certain people will be able to make the clear distinction between 14 years old and 12 years old, and which age he is and is not.  Nobody is that precocious, and even if you bring race into it, the team’s manager was also Dominican, and I’m sure a Dominican man can tell this sort of difference among his own young men.  Of course they all knew, which is why the team’s whole season was invalidated when the truth came out.  It was all over the local news in St. Louis a few years back when the then 20-year old Almonte signed for the Frontier League team based down here in Marion.  They never followed up, and Wikipedia tells me why:  He was so bad that he was cut after only a month.

Washington (AP) – Citing recent killings in Arkansas, Kansas and the nation’s capital, Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday said new hate crimes law were needed to stop what he called “violence masquerading as political activism.”

The attorney general’s call for Congress to act came as a civil rights coalition said there has been a surge in white supremacist activity since the election of the first African-American president and the economic downturn.

Someone finally has admitted that the Arkansas murder not only happened, but implied that it was a hate crime.  And he is correct.  Now if only the authorities in Arkansas are listening.  Since the victim was a military recruiter, and the motivation seemed to be hate of the U.S. Armed Forces, I’m sure that Holder’s Justice Department could also get involved.

A high percentage of those are at the hands of blacks, especially if the victim is a white and LGBT and in a big city.

Florida campers charged with forcing 12-year-old boy to drink urine

JUNE 16–A Florida boy attending Boy Scout camp was forced to drink urine after he was accused of using a racial slur, according to police. The boy, 12, was accosted Friday by a quartet of attackers who pushed him to the ground and placed duct tape over his mouth. According to the below Putnam County Sheriff’s Office report, the child told cops that he was “blamed for calling a black boy a n****r,” which the boy denied. The attack, which occurred at Camp Shands in Hawthorne, resulted in the arrest of three minors and Joseph Reid, a 21-year-old volunteer. The victim told investigators that he was lured into the woods, where he was set upon by the quartet. The child’s attackers said that “they were going to teach him a lesson and he was either going to drink a bottle of urine, or they were going to beat him up,” according to the report (which was prepared by an officer unable to spell “lie” or “hairdo”). One assailant took the tape off the Boy Scout’s mouth “and poured urine down his throat.” Police recovered two bottles of urine and pieces of duct tape that were apparently used during the attack. Reid and the three minors were charged with kidnapping and aggravated child abuse, both felonies.

In other words, the four assailants, I’m guessing all black, did this for some other reason, (hate crime?) and now they’re using the ghetto alibi that the white boy “called me/us the n-word.”  It seems that the ghetto alibi isn’t working anymore, if this is an indication.

As late as August 2007, Former President William Jefferson Blythe Clinton was sitting on top of the world.  His wife was about to become President, making the Clintons the first husband-and-wife Presidential team, to sandwich the second set of father-son Presidents.  Hillary Rodham Clinton being President after Bush 43 was pretty much the foregone conclusion when she won U.S. Senator from New York, thereby creating a situation for 17 days that Bill was President and Hillary was U.S. Senator.  He himself would have been First Gentleman, but his real ambitions would have been U.N. Secretary General, making the Clintons a real power couple.  Even beyond all of that, Clinton was the first multiple-term Democrat President since FDR, which made him Democrat royalty.

Then Barack Obama got uppity, and got up to the nomination and then the White House, demolishing Clinton, Inc. in the process.  The real Democrat royalty, the Kennedys, saw to that.

HRC is in the administration, though as the putative Secretary of State.  But make no doubt about it, FoPo in the Obama admin goes through Joe Biden, end of story.  And Bill?  Yes, he’s with the UN, but not at the lofty heights he wanted.  He’s the UN Ambassador to the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

I was watching the TV news (local) this morning.  They had a segment that showed the estranged son of the Holocaust museum shooter, the son lives in Florida.  The son went on and on about how much of a kook his father was, and one of the reasons he listed why his father was a kook is because he believes that blacks are inferior and prone to violent crime.  After that segment went off, the next five segments in a row were about either violent crimes that happened overnight on the South Side, (which I’m sure you know is famous for a reason), or showing those charged in a couple of murders that happened in Chicago before now (all of them had something in common, besides all being from the South Side).  I wonder where this Brunn got such an idea. :)

TUCSON, June 12 (UPI) — Investigators say they used a mobile X-ray system to ferret out more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana hidden in a truckload of watermelons this week.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said in a written statement that the X-ray scanned the big rig late Wednesday at the Aqua Linda checkpoint near Tucson and spotted the pot bundles after a sniffer dog alerted on the trailer.

So we’ve got watermelons and weed.  Throw in some 40 ouncers, and you’ve got the ghetto trifecta.

Same Old Same Old

A 48-year old 23-year veteran officer of the SLPD was shot yesterday evening after he had cashed his paycheck at a North St. Louis cash checking joint, and two PTBs tried to rob him.  He was off duty, but was carrying his service weapon.  Which he used to make holes in one of them.  As the one that was shot did not realize that Federal law requires ERs to call an LEA when a person with a gunshot wound comes in for treatment, he was quickly apprehended after they were done patching him up.  The other one is still on the lam.

Not that this blogmeister in this medium would ever dismiss or excuse these kinds of crimes carried out by the usual suspects, or any other suspects, but hasn’t this cop ever heard of a bank and direct deposit?  And should not he know by now, as a 23-year vet of the SLPD, that check cashing joints are crime magnets?

I lost track of the URL, and can’t seem to find it, but a story on KMOX radio about these shootings quoted the reactions three people associated with City Hall.  Two of the people, one black man and one white woman, I can’t remember what they did at City Hall.  The other person was Alderwoman Jennifer Florida.  The black man said that he’s going to get a conceal-carry permit, Florida said that we need more surveillance cameras, and the unidentified white woman says that this proves we need more cops on the streets.  Who can imagine the bigot whose words you’re reading right now thinking that the black man made the most sense here?  But it’s true.  And can you believe that I said just days ago that many more black men and women with clean sheets need to start getting and using CCW permits in order for CCW to reach its full promise of crime deterrence?  That’s true, too.

Cameras won’t work, because all they will show us is all that we already know, at least in the context of St. Louis City.  Look at how well they’re working in London and Chicago, cameras practically covering every square inch of those cities.  The cops already have one of the two perps in custody, and will soon round up the other one, in spite of the lack of cameras.  The SLPD’s intelligence unit is second to none in the St. Louis Area; usually, they can bag a murder suspect in very short order.  Given limited resources, I’d rather have good intel than cameras.  As far as more cops being on the street, all I can say is this:  The cop here that was shot was on the streets, and he was shot anyway.  More cops mean more targets, end of story.  Pray tell, where are going to get all these cops?  Who wants to be cop in this almost impossible city, where every accost of a black suspect is a potential career ender and life ender?

Teen diagnoses her own disease in science class

For eight years, Jessica Terry suffered from stomach pain so horrible, it brought her to her knees. The pain, along with diarrhea, vomiting and fever, made her so sick, she lost weight and often had to miss school.

Her doctors, no matter how hard they tried, couldn’t figure out the cause of Jessica’s abdominal distress.

Then one day in January, Terry, 18, figured it out on her own.

In her Advanced Placement high school science class, she was looking under the microscope at slides of her own intestinal tissue — slides her pathologist had said were completely normal — and spotted an area of inflamed tissue called a granuloma, a clear indication that she had Crohn’s disease.

“It’s weird I had to solve my own medical problem,” Terry told CNN affiliate KOMO in Seattle, Washington. “There were just no answers anywhere. … I was always sick.”

I’m glad for her.  But you’re telling me that none of her doctors, all of them with advanced degrees in medicine, couldn’t figure out what someone who hasn’t yet graduated from high school did?

This happened in Seattle.  Let me guess, H-1B, India, Pakistan, China, cheap labor HMO doctors.

I think this went over most people’s heads, but when Sarah Palin responded to flippant comments made by former comedian David Letterman, her response was on the Today show with Matt Lauer, she essentially called Letterman stupid and a numbnut.  Not in those exact words, but that is what is to be implied when she said that (pph) “Letterman took two whole days and his excuse was still lame.”

In spite of the inappropriate nature of it all, who thinks that A-Rod wouldn’t try to do what Letterman joked about?  After all, A-Rod seems to like white women way out of his age range.

Now that the FDA can regulate the nicotine content in cigarettes, it’s probably a safe bet that they’ll reduce it.  What this will mean is that nicotine addicts will have to buy more packs of cigs, and therefore pay more in cig taxes.  And since cig taxes is how we pay for children’s health care, I think S-CHIP is financially secure for awhile.

…you probably know about the Performance Rights Act. Here’s a non-industry perspective that’s pretty interesting.

Now the Recording Industry Association of America and a coalition of other industry groups are backing a bill, the Performance Rights Act, that would require those same stations to pay a new fee for the right to air those records. An industry that is infamously willing to pay for airplay apparently wants to charge for airplay too.

When Napster was hot, the very word “Napster” was a cuss word on the EIB Network.  Will Rush Limbaugh still be singing the same tune when he can’t play his bumper music anymore?

Not all right wingers are RIAA/MPAA whores.  Phyllis Schlafly, high-powered expert in ConLaw that she is, and an even bigger expert on the patent and copyright system, and definitely a proponent of strong patents and copyrights, and opposed to weakening the patent system to help non-Americans, sees the whole thing my way.  In fact, she invented the phrase “copyright extremism.”
