Only a few weeks after an undocumented somebody-or-another threatened to blow up a building that houses Cape Girardeau’s Finest, the County Sheriff’s Office knocks back six undocumented somebodies-or-anothers for slinging fake papers to secure employment at a Cape restaurant and a farm near Jackson.
Here’s the catch:
Though Cape Girardeau police will investigate illegal immigrant reports, the majority of immigration arrests and detainers begin as an investigation into another type of complaint, police have said. A detainer occurs when someone is arrested on state charges, and local authorities agree to hold or detain that person for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement to be turned over to them after their sentence is complete.
How much you wanna bet that ICE says let ‘em go? If that happens, then they’ll be a guest of the state and/or a guest of the Feds for awhile, then let loose.
