Jesse Spencer, the Melbourne, VIC, Australia native who plays Dr. Chase, and has for all six seasons thus far, has two brothers and a sister, all of them doctors or soon-to-be doctors. Go figure, of all his parents’ children, that one that isn’t a doctor makes the most money for playing a doctor on TV.
His parents have also founded several anti-immigration groups in Oz, and are also big supporters of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party, the closest Oz has to a real nationalist party. Close enough for government work :)
He was engaged to be married to Jennifer Morrison (“Dr. Cameron”) in real life, but broke it off. Now he has to pretend to be married to her once a week. That CAN’T be easy.
Spencer’s first big breakthrough was on a long-running Australian soap opera, Neighbours. You can see him in these opening credits as Billy, and this promo for (what was then) an upcoming episode.
