Sunday Wrap-Up

28 02 2010

(1)  Just another day for you and me in paradise.

(2)  The NBA taught him about ballin.  I wonder if the girl was white.

(3)  The devil giveth, and the devil taketh away:  Soros to come out big on the fall of the Euro.  Of course he would — The main reason the Euro is faltering is due to the faltering Greek economy combined with the country being in arrears on many loans from the EU, and that is complicated by the fact that Soros manipulated the international currency market so that Greece could afford to hold the 2004 Summer Olympics.

(4)  Rush doesn’t miss much, but I’m not surprised he missed the most obnoxious angle of this.  I noticed it, because I was especially taken aback at the Obama fraudulence over the jobs issue in the 2008 Presidential campaign.  Axelrod’s triangulation strategery on the jobs issue was to run ads saying that Barack Obama would end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.  In other words, they were making half a promise, because they’re free traders on the one hand, but they needed the votes from economically frustrated working class whites in the Rust Belt on the other hand.  And it worked.

Rush took a call on Friday from a woman in suburban Detroit, who said that she was recently laid off from GMAC, because GM was outsourcing her job to somewhere in Asia.  President Obama owns GM for all intents and purposes, and still, jobs at GMAC are being outsourced to Fuckalore.  One stroke of a pen could have stopped it.  UPDATE 3/2: It gets worse.  Prorated to a year, Michael Carpenter, who was GMAC’s CEO for a month and a half last year, was paid $9.6 million.  Remember, GMAC is owned by GM, and GM is essentially owned by a politician upset with huge CEO salaries.

(5)  House Speaker Ron Richard pondering a run for Governor in 2016.  Gee, Ron, that’s showing a lot of confidence in Peter Kinder.  Then again, I don’t have a lot of confidence in Peter Kinder, either.

(6)  Ah, yes, it’s the classic grudge match between the septuagenarians vs the octogenarians.

(7)  Reason #498 why I don’t own an iCabal portable music device or phone:  The iSweatshop.

(8)  Yesterday, they were Nazis.  Today, they’re her good buddies in the fight against the special interests.

(9)  Yesterday, they were Nazis.  Today, they’re just 60s hippie baby boomers who are now re-living past glory on the other side of the aisle.

(10)  This you gotta read:  Slums are environmentally friendly.  What this means is that the establishment is trying to grease the skids to get people to like living in slums and working for peanuts.

(11)  April Fools Day is still a month away.  So why are we getting joke stories about a Hyundai doing 120?  That’s about as credible as getting a citation while driving a Chevy Citation.

And some headlines.

Vancouver’s Flame Is Almost Out…

27 02 2010

…And while I have a lot of opinions about the 21st Winter Olympics which will conclude tomorrow night, I’ll net it out to a few:

(1)  I’m really surprised that NBC didn’t shove Shani Davis down our throats over these and the previous Winter Olympics.  Instead, he has gotten pretty much the same level of publicity that a white speed skater that would take gold in the 1000 and silver in the 1500 two olympics in a row would get.  Don’t forget, while he may be the first American black to win an individual gold medal, he’s not the first non-white American to win a speed skating medal — Derek Parra, a Hispanic speed skater from L.A., won a gold at Salt Lake City in one of the shorter distance long track events.

(2)  Even though he’s in the best physical shape of his life, Apolo Ohno is probably retiring.  Being in shape overall and being in good short track racing shape are two different things.  I think the calculus in Ohno’s head is that he could easily wear out his welcome and become another Willie Mays.  The South Koreans will probably dominate this sport for quite awhile — There is just something about young Oriental men, including the half-Oriental Americans, that serves them well in short track.  (In case you’re wondering, I think Ohno was robbed last night in the 500.  The Canadian judge DQed him and only him in order to slide a Canadian up from the B-final into a medal position, and obviously didn’t DQ the Canadian who won gold, even though he committed the very same infraction as Ohno.)

(3)  I think Orientals are going to dominate in women’s figure skating for a long time, too

(4)  Depending on how a few more events go, Team Canada might win won the most gold medals, even though the United States will win won the total medal count for the first time ever in a very long time.  So while Canada didn’t “own the podium,” they might well have owned the top of the podium.  Canada had not yet won an Olympic gold on home soil until these games, and they have 10 in Vancouver at the time of this writing 14 from Vancouver , which is a Winter Olympics record for any country in any one Games.  As for us, we went from winning only six medals the last time the Winter Olympics were on Canadian soil, to thirteen in Nagano, Japan in 1998, to being a close second to Germany in Salt Lake City 2002 and Torino 2006, and now on top.  Some might say that our rise has been due to so many novelty and X-Games style events being added to the WO, and that’s partially true.  But we’re also getting better at the old established events traditionally dominated by the Norwegians and Austrians.

(5)  It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a hockey game in full.  But I’m watching US-Canada tomorrow.  Oh yeah, I’ll be camped out on front of the TV.  Could you get a better hockey gold medal final game, and the last event before the closing ceremonies, in a Canadian city whose urban sprawl goes right to the U.S. border?

(6)  Lindsey Vonn is all that.  Well spoken, intelligent, gorgeous, blonde, perfectly proportioned, outstanding figure, athletic and physically fit without being a man with female plumbing, and nobody cries better in victory.  Unfortunately, she’s married :(

(7)  Something has to be done with the Olympics, because each one gets progressively more expensive and debt-inducing.  It’s unsustainable.  I think Vancouver is going to be the closest that any games get to the United States for a very long time.  Speaking of that, NBC’s TV rights end after London, and the current gossip is that Disney/ABC/ESPN will be in best bidding position.

(8)  Bob Costas doesn’t bother me, but honestly, Al Michaels would have been better in prime time.

(9)  It is my understanding that the people who live in Vancouver’s time zone in the United States weren’t able to see anything from Vancouver live on NBC or its cable networks.  NBC.  MASSIVE EPIC FAIL.

(10)  And was it a good idea for NBC to hawk its shitty prime time lineup during the games?  All that does is remind everyone that NBC’s prime time lineup is shitty, and that, since Leno’s back to the Tonight Show on Monday, there’s no reason for me or a whole lot of people to watch NBC in prime time.

It’s White, It Works, and You Gotta Pick Cotton to Get to It

26 02 2010

Cotton balls strewn about the entrance to the black culture center at Mizzou.  Officials are calling it a hate crime.  If that’s hate, then Mizzou must be the most racially peaceful place on Earth.  If you ask me, the reason some are upset is that cotton balls on the sidewalk remind them too much of the last time their immediate ancestors actually did any work that benefited society.  Then again, who’s asking me?

My advice?  Take two aspirin and e-mail me in the morning.

Stuff Liberal White People Like

26 02 2010

Libs to start a counter to the Tea Party Movement, called the Coffee Party.

On the website suggesting it’s the national clearinghouse for the CPM, there is a poll asking its readers about the most important issue in the country right now.  At the time of this writing, more than two-thirds say health care, while job creation is only at 14%.  Out here in the real world, it’s probably the other way around.  That should show you where the coffeebaggers are coming from.

I’m guessing this is Rahm/Axelrod astroturfing to get HCR passed.

And, just like typical coffee shop where typical lib has to go and buy coffee, the coffee you get at the coffee shop, and the “coffee” that you’re supposed to buy at the Coffee Parties, is way too expensive and overrated, when, in some instances, “brewing your own” makes for “coffee” that’s just as good but a lot less expensive.

Friday’s Racial Tidbits

26 02 2010

(1)  Orange-Clad Fools:  UT’s admins prohibit student-athletes from owning or possessing guns, even if it’s off campus, and the gun and circumstance is legal.  The new rule is a result of actions on the part the usual suspects.  However, you can’t expect college administrators to admit the obvious taboo, so everyone has to be punished.

Does UT not have a competitive rifle team?  Its members would be “student-athletes,” presumably, who would be prohibited from having guns.  Kinda hard to participate in rifle if you can’t have one.  OTOH, “student-athlete” might mean scholarship student-athletes, and would not include walk-ons.

(2)  In response to accusations that “racist” British bus drivers are passing by Muslim girls and young women who wear hijabs, and that the same are at the receiving end of racial taunts, cops will soon begin riding the buses to monitor for such “abuses.”

Want race abuse on a bus?  Be white and get on a public bus or rail system in the wrong parts of many American cities.  Then you’re gonna hear racial slurs that you never even knew existed, plus a lot of ones you already knew about, plus a hearty diet of “muthafucka.”

Also, might we forgive Britons for being cautious when it comes to Muslims in traditional garb on public transportation?  Hint: 7/7.

(3)  The Great Black Hope:  Coca-Cola, and more specifically, Sprite, has started sponsoring something called a Step-Off.  If you’ve ever seen the movie Stomp the Yard, then you know what stepping is all about and who does it.  In case you don’t know, it’s a high energy genre of group dancing that is almost the exclusive province of college-age black men and women, especiall those on fraternities and sororities.  Notice I used the word “almost,” and that’s not just a weasel word — Sprite’s first annual Step-Off took place in Atlanta this past Saturday, with six fraternities and six sororities were competing for separate honors as the best stepping frat or sorors in the country.  And a white troup from a mostly white sorority at the University of Arkansas won the women’s division.

“Oh no you didn’t!”

Yes, they did.

Or rather, no, they didn’t.

Coca-Cola decided to bump up the second-place finishers, an all-black sorority from the University of Indiana, up to a tie with first place, based on some “scoring discrepancy” bullshit.  Of course, we all know that it was affirmative action, because whites just can’t go there.  Even though they did go there with disco  — Ask the average person today to name a disco artist, and if they can give you an answer, they’ll say the Bee Gees, even though most of the Gees’ music, both before and after SNF, weren’t disco songs, and in spite of the fact that most disco artists were black.  Even though they did go there with hip-hop — Eminem holds all sorts of hip-hop records, in terms of sales, awards, visibility and other things.

(4)  The “Compton Cookout” that everyone’s so up in arms about?  Its organizer was not a UCSD frat, but a Southern California gentleman of color who has a rather outlandish personality.

(5)  Affirmative action and Hispandering are running the New York Mets into the ground?  Fine by me.

(6)  It isn’t often that I side with teachers’ unions, but this is one time that I do.  I could add that the whole thing is a convenient excuse to replace them with H-1Bs.

Friday’s Non-Racial Tidbits

26 02 2010

(1)  This is comforting to know:  Uncle Sam has not yet paid off WWII bonds.  And yet, we can somehow afford a terabuck-expensive health care boondoggle.

(2)  The top three, and four of the top five conservative Republicans in the Senate are named Jim.  Throw in John, and you have six of the top seven.

(3)  Governor Nixon announced a thousand new make work summer jobs for young people ages 17 to 24 in Missouri State Parks this summer.  The jobs run from May 1 to September 30.  Question:  Hasn’t anyone considered that this work schedule will conflict with school for most of those who take these jobs?  While most colleges and universities are through with their spring semesters in early May, most high schools don’t let out until at least Memorial Day and maybe as late as early June.  And mid-August is pretty much standard fare these days for the start of school, both in college and high school.

(4)  The average British woman will spend £4,000 for purses and handbags in her lifetime.  That’s cheap compared to the tab they’ll run up in shoes.

(5)  A Denver mother is accused of pimping out her 13-year old daughter and a friend of the same age so that the mother can have crack, meth and money.

It’s not self-evident from the headline whether the mother is white, black or Hispanic, so I’ll have to settle on a mix of all three.

(6)  Jon Cryer’s ex-wife tried to take out a contract on him, and went so far as to hire a hitman.  One could say that it’s a matter of life imitating art, but it’s really not — Alan Harper’s ex-wives couldn’t afford to kill him because they need the alimony.

(7)  The question of whether hoosegowbirds should be able to Tweet?  Moot, if you ask me.  I mean, prisoner tweets will fall under one of four templates:  (1) Getting raped, (2) Assassinate the DA and/or Judge who sent me here, (3) Prison food sux, (4) I didn’t do it.

(8)  Finally, Real BBQ has returned to St. Louis.  And by “real,” I don’t mean that overrated shit they do in Kansas City and Texas, and I certainly don’t mean the “style” of my native city, that is, to drown a pork steak in a swimming pool of plasmafied tomato flavored with a few spices.  While beef brisket and drowned pork steaks might be delicious in terms of overall food, they are by no means Real BBQ.

Get it through your heads, people:  Real BBQ is slow-smoked shredded pork shoulder, in between bun halves and cole slaw, with maybe a light tomato-based sauce that actually has some biteback of its own.  In other words, the way they do it in Memphis.

Bottom of the Ninth, Two Outs, Down By Three, Bases Loaded, and Tom “Dung Heap” Harkin Is At The Plate

25 02 2010

And I think he just hit a home run.

Too bad for me, because I’m a fan of the other team.

The conventional wisdom on conservative talk radio today is that the Republicans threw the Democrats’ rocks right back at them.  President Obama wanted them there at his White House Healthcareapalooza, as Politico says, “to put a face to the obstructionists.”  In other words, Rahm and Axelrod wanted to create a small number of Republican demons to vilify in the Alinskyite tradition.  Conservative talkers seem to think that the GOP was able to overcome this by being the ones who were asking substantive questions about ObamaCare, and having substantive alternatives of their own, all the while the Democrats came off as juvenile, and could only genuflect to sob stories.  (BTW, the woman who uses the dentures of her deceased sister?  She ought to register her late sister to vote; that’s what the Democrats/ACORN would want.)

As good as the Republicans were up to that point, Tom Harkin pulled the rug out from under all of them.

I’ll let The Hill take it from here:

The fight for health reform is akin to the fight for desegregation and other civil rights, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) said Thursday.

“We don’t allow segregation on the basis of race,” Harkin, the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, said at the White House healthcare summit.

“And yet we still allow segregation today in America on the basis of your health,” Harkin added. “Why should we allow that to happen?”

Harkin has been one of the most vociferous proponents of healthcare reform in the Senate, and has been a top proponent of the public option. (He did concede in recent days, though, that a measure establishing a government-run health plan was unlikely to pass.)

Still, Harkin said, health reform was vital to reduce “segregation” in healthcare.

“That’s why insurance reform is so vital,” he said.

Harkin has invented a new “ism” to overcome.  Karl Marx once called civil rights “a revolution in permanence” because no “ism,” racism, sexism or otherwise, would ever be ended, and there would be a never-ending supply of new “isms” to add to the hopper of existing “isms” to oppose.

How can the Republicans vote against ObamaCare now?  To do so would be to shit all over their precious first President of the Republican Party, the great egalitarian liberator whose life and work were pretty much the occasion for Marx’s axiom.

AP:

Report: E-Verify misses half of illegal workers

WASHINGTON – The system Congress and the Obama administration want employers to use to help curb illegal immigration is failing to catch more than half the number of unauthorized workers it checks, a research company has found.

The online tool E-Verify, now used voluntarily by employers, wrongly clears illegal workers about 54 percent of the time, according to Westat, a research company that evaluated the system for the Homeland Security Department. E-Verify missed so many illegal workers mainly because it can’t detect identity fraud, Westat said.

“Clearly it means it’s not doing its No. 1 job well enough,” said Mark Rosenblum, a researcher at the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan Washington think tank.

E-Verify allows employers to run a worker’s information against Homeland Security and Social Security databases to check whether the person is permitted to work in the U.S. The Obama administration has made cracking down on employers who hire people here illegally a central part of its immigration enforcement policy, and there are expectations that some Republicans in Congress will try in coming weeks to make E-Verify mandatory.

E-Verify correctly identified legal workers 93 percent of the time, Westat said. However, previous studies have not quantified how many immigrants were fooling the E-Verify system. Much of the criticism of E-Verify has focused on whether U.S. citizens and legal immigrants with permission to work were falsely flagged as illegal workers.

Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, who is writing the Democrats’ immigration bill and has fought expanding E-Verify because of its flaws, said Wednesday that the fact that E-Verify was inaccurate so often shows that it is not an adequate tool.

“This is a wake-up call to anyone who thinks E-Verify is an effective remedy to stop the hiring of illegal immigrants,” Schumer said.

Wrong answer, Chucky.  Actual mistakes with E-Verify are rare.  It’s just that, as the AP states, the reason that about half of non-qualified workers are mistakenly identified as qualified is because they steal the identity of a citizen or legal immigrant.  E-Verify is working as well as it possibly can.  Anything that the open borders nuts can latch onto in an intellectually dishonest verve to kill it, they will use it.

In case this is your first time here, the reason E-Verify is crucial is that it’s by far the best current legitimate way for employers to extricate themselves from the Catch-22 they would be in without E-Verify:  They would be stuck between the rock of violating Federal law by hiring illegals, and the hard place of violating Federal law by racially discriminating against Hispanics.  For Schumer or anyone to say they’re against E-Verify means they want illegal aliens in country and having legit jobs, and voting Democrat.

I Still Think the Silverback Would Be More Accurate…

25 02 2010

but almost three-quarters of the morons that pass for current Ole Miss students want this to be their school’s new mascot.

We all know how out of place it was to have an image of an old white man with a white beard and a cane, suggestive of a plantation owner, be the mascot of the premier public university in a state where a lot of old white men with white beards and canes used to own plantations.

How a mighty institution has fallen.

Sorry to Inconvenience You

25 02 2010

UK Daily Mail:

Police tell car theft victim: ‘We’ve found your van… but it’s too dangerous to get it back from traveller camp’

Police have refused to recover a stolen vehicle from a travellers’ camp because of the danger.

When Christopher Sims had his white van stolen from outside his house, officers told him they had an idea who might have taken it.

But Gloucestershire Police insisted they could not take any action as it would be ill-advised to visit the site because of the strong criminal element who lived there.

Oh, well.  Sorry to have bothered you.  And I’m so sorry that I was speaking so out of turn as to expect the POLICE to go where criminals are, in order to recover stolen property.  Isn’t that what the police are supposed to do, be where the crime is?   There isn’t much to be said about the Good Ole U.S. of A. anymore, but at least here, the police actually go where crime is, even though a lot of people would consider that to be racial profiling.

What surprises me is that Gloucestershire’s “Finest” didn’t turn right around and arrest the car theft victim for racial hate speech.  After all, it is racist to expect white cops to enforce the law against gypsies.  That’s right, I said it, gypsies.  “Travellers.”  What’s a traveller, other than PC for gypsy?

Wednesday’s Tidbits

24 02 2010

(1)  Not your father’s Court of St. James — The new American embassy in London?  Gonna run you a cool gigabuck.  Why that much?  It might be because of all those Muslim terroristical boogie woogies that the American Republocrats and the British Liblabcons have pandered to for more than a generation.

(2)  The NCAA has announced team and individual finalists in the sport of rifle shooting.  I’m sure you’ll be shocked to find out that both Army and Navy are in.

(3)  I found this from a Schlafly tweet.  I have mixed feelings.  I fear that it would be used in an anarcho-tyrannical way to allow the entry of Muslim terroristical boogie woogies, but also used to deny the entry of many European racial conservatives who have been “convicted” of one or more thoughtcrimes.

(4)  Black and other non-white British gangbangers are increasingly using their white middle-class girlfriends and their residences as convenient hiding places for drugs, guns and other contraband, because such people and houses tend to fly under police radar.

(5)  What was true from 1990 to 2000 will also likely be true from 2000 to 2010:  Georgia and North Carolina have the highest percentage or raw numerical increase of Hispanic illegal aliens.

(6)  Is Tom Udall on drugs or something?  That’s like saying that I should cut off my nose because I’m relatively physically fit and a morbidly obese neighbor of mine won’t cut off his nose.

(7)  This is what they call excuseology:  Pew trying to cover up Obama’s plummeting approval rating among those under 30.  Pew claims the reason is government gridlock on HCR, and the continuation of the wars/occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Of course, we all know the real reasons are the economy, and at least among whites under 30, the fact that they’re going to be the first group of people, when they would otherwise be entering the peak years of their earning power, to live with the consequences of a non-American America.  Are we to think that people under 30 really give a rat’s turd about the nuances of the HCR process over the various chambers, committees and subcommittees in Congress, and that they’re worried about wars/occupations which there is virtually no chance they will be conscripted to serve in?

(8)  Michael Steele isn’t the Republican Obama, he’s the Republican Pelosi.

(9)  STL Zoo to build a memorial to a 7-year old boy struck and killed outside the Zoo’s southern entrance in the summer of 2001.  If you remember, the perpetrator was a Crime Lawnian gentleman of color who was doing way over the  limit while he was way over the limit.  As you recall, his defense lawyers and the CA’s office struck a plea deal, that he would get a 15-year bid, out in as little as 8.  The judge accepted that plea deal, a St. Louis Circuit Court Judge, was/is one that I happen to know of,  and a lot of people that I know who also know of him were jerking his chain for having ratified a plea deal which meant that he could be getting out of prison as early as some time this year.  However, I don’t fault the judge in question — If he would have rejected the plea deal, it would have gone to trial.  And a trial of a black defendant in the City of St. Louis is truly a crapshoot, thanks to the available jury pool.

(10)  Geezo, can’t hot dogs catch a break?  First they’re blamed for choking children, and now they poke people’s eyes out.  I wish I weren’t an Oscar Meyer wiener…

(11)  The Illinois legislature wants to return the IL primaries back to the month of March, where it was for a long time, until they pushed them up to February in time for the 2008 campaign season, in order to give Barack Obama a boost in his campaign against HRC.   In addition, the legis. wants to change the election procedure of the Lieutenant Governor, such that a party’s nominee for Governor chooses a running mate, who would become Lt. Gov. should his or her boss become Governor, similar to the way Vice-Presidents are selected.  The way it works now, Lt. Govs have primaries separate from the Gov., but once the primaries are done, Gov. and Lt. Gov. nominees of a given party run as a ticket together, and either win together or lose together.  In Missouri, Gov. and Lt. Gov are totally separated primaries and generals, so you can have situations like you have in the present, a Gov. and a Lt. Gov. of different parties.

What that is is nothing more than sour grapes IL Democrats complaining that it’s the system’s fault because their elected nominee for Lt. Gov. has turned out to be a total dud.  When Jimmy Carter flopped, they whined about the Presidency being too much for one man to bear.  When Bill Clinton violated campaign finance laws numerous times, he whined about the campaign finance system being broken and in need of reform.  When ObamaCare can’t pass in spite of almost or exactly a 3-to-2 Democrat advantage in the House and Senate, liberal talking heads complain that the “system is ungovernable.”  When the man that Illinois Democrats choose for their Lieutenant Governor nominee turns out to have the morals of a weasel, Illinois Democrats in the State House and Senate complain that the system for choosing a state second-in-command is flawed.  For my money, the system worked in all these instances — The Presidency was only too much for Jimmy Carter to bear, Bill Clinton was held semi-accountable for his violation of numerous and existing CF laws, the system is proving very “governable” for those who don’t want kooks like Pelosi, Reed and Obama to “govern” health care, and Scott Cohen did the only honorable thing he’s ever done in his life by bowing out of the race even after he won the primary.

All That Fuss Over This?

24 02 2010

Like everyone else in St. Louis City’s southern half, I frequently get YMCA booklets in the mail, imploring you to join the Y on Loughborough and take advantage of their services.

I got another one today, but it didn’t look like most of the ones I received in the past.  So I didn’t pitch it right away, and instead, opened it up.  It’s a glossy fold-out brochure, that was revealing in more ways than one:

Remember all that fuss Mayor Slay made about recreation centers a few years ago?  After the Cards beat the Tiggers in the World Series in 2006, in fact, the very next day after the clincher, St. Louis beat Detroit again, for the title as Morgan Quitno’s most dangerous city.  Room 200′s strategy at first was to shit all over MQ’s methodology, but then it shifted tactics — They stopped dumping on the survey methodology and results, and said they were indeed true.  But since St. Louis was the worst crime city in the country, this is the reason city voters had to rush out and pass a sales tax to fund new recreation centers, so that ghetto thugs have something to do other than doing that which made St. Louis the worst crime city in America.  Now, while they played the “it’s really that bad let’s build rec centers” card, they genuflected back to their initial strategy of shitting all over MQ.  Slay had endorsed John Kerry for President several years before, so I can understand his being for it after he was against it and against it after he was for it, all at the same time.

Nevertheless, the sales tax passed, and this was used to build two new ones, and rebab the existing ones.

And the result?  One of the two new ones, the one in Carondelet Park in South City, is nothing more than a new building for the Y, just a fraction of a mile to the west of their old building on Loughborough.  What this means in essence is that half the new recreation centers funded by this sales tax was nothing more than a gift of a new building to the Y, not a city O&O facility like the rest are, and like the new rec center on the north side, in O’Fallon Park, will be.  City residents will have slightly reduced membership fees for that particular YMCA — Two words:  Big whoop.

Someone explain to me how, at least in the context of what I just described, how this will deter at much as one violent crime in the southern half of this city.  Please?

Some Headlines Are Too Hot, Some Are Too Cold. These Are Just Right.

The Hill:  Reid: ‘Men, when they’re out of work, tend to become abusive’

The good news about this theory is that it is testable, and it will be in at least one instance on January 3 of next year.

To force religious schools to teach equality and diversity certainly takes…

He’d Rather Be Carried By Six Than Judged By Twelve

23 02 2010

“Illiberalism is a dangerous mental disorder.” — Michael Savage

Townhall:

It is a truism to say that there are many anti-gun ideologues among our educational elites. But few are as honest as Doug Van Gorder – a math teacher at Brockton High School. He admits that he would rather lose a child than exercise his right to defend himself with a gun. In the wake of a recent school shooting, he wrote this in a Letter to the Editor of the Boston Globe:

Some propose overturning laws that made schools gun-free zones even for teachers who may be licensed to securely carry concealed firearms elsewhere. They argue that barring licensed-carry only ensures a defenseless, target-rich environment.

But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime.

Morally speaking, I have no problem with anti-gun ideologues who wish to place themselves in peril by waiving their rights of self-defense. You almost have to respect someone who is willing to die for his beliefs. But when he decides that others should also die for his beliefs the real trouble begins.

However, if qualified teachers, principals and admins are allowed to start CCWing into Brockton High School in Brockton, Mass., Mr. Van Groder will benefit even though he obviously will not.  In economics, it’s called the free rider problem.  Someone who wants to shoot up Brockton High, assuming they are unaware of Mr. Van Groder’s personal feelings, won’t know if he, or any of the other teachers or admins, are armed or not.  Therefore, they won’t shoot up the school.  And Mr. Van Groder will be safer for it.

Why are we troubled that he would rather see his own offspring die than use a firearm in self-defense?  He’s a self-described “progressive,” meaning that the odds are very high that he’s pro-aborticide.  He’s also likely big on racial diversity and equality, so a lot of people who would want to commit crimes inside Brockton High are justified in doing so, because of all that white racism and oppression.  His beliefs are so true that he would sacrifice his own child for them.  You may say it’s insane to be such a credal zealot, but that has been the fundamental American policy since November 1863, that the fundamental basis of the United States of America is the creed of racial equality, and eschewing the “racism” of ethnocentricism on a macro (racial) or micro (immediate family) basis.  Thousands of lives have been lost in the zealous adherence to that creed; tis life in the big city.  Doug Van Groder = Abraham Lincoln.

Little Sympathy from the AP

Little Sympathy for Pro-Life Activist As Trial Starts for His Alleged Killer

Owosso, Mich. (AP) – In life, anti-abortion activist James Pouillon spent years trying to influence people in his small Michigan city with large signs of dead fetuses. In death, that combative style could make it difficult to find a jury for the trial of the man charged with killing him.

Jury selection was scheduled to start Tuesday in the first-degree murder trial of trucker Harlan Drake, who is accused of gunning down Pouillon outside Owosso High School on Sept. 11, then later shooting business owner Mike Fuoss.

But prosecutors have warned a judge that it will be “almost impossible” to seat jurors who haven’t seen Pouillon’s demonstrations or formed an opinion about him. He was everywhere — the farmers market, City Hall, the county courthouse, football games — with verbal taunts that were as shocking as his signs.

In high-profile trials, it’s typically the accused seeking a new venue because of too much publicity or other issues. Not in this case.

“What’s the assumption here?” said Drake’s defense lawyer, Robert Ashley. “That people feel someone who had an obnoxious way of exercising his First Amendment right should die for it? That’s extreme. … I think we can get an impartial jury.”

George Driller commits the most gruesome kinds of aborticides, and someone murders him for it.  I didn’t recall reading any AP headlines like “Little Sympathy for Reproductive Services Provider As Trial Stars for His Alleged Killer.”  A pro-life activist is far from congenial in his methods, and someone murders him for it.  We are supposed to have no sympathy for the murder victim.

Yay, double standards.

More Than a Third

What do you get when you add our 17% real unemployment rate to a 20% underemployment rate?

It’s not that simple, b/c the 20% figure is among those who are “working,” i.e. supposedly 90% of all people.  So 20% times 90% is 18%.  Add the 18% of all people who are underemployed to the 17% real unemployment rate, to get a 35% unemployment/underemployment rate.

Ironically, President Obama has a higher approval rating among those who are underemployed than those who are “over” employed.

Other Side of the Pond Stack of Stuff

(1)  American lamestream cons shocked that Cameron wants to purge every white man save himself out of the Tory Party.  I’m not surprised.  The Tories said right after Obama got elected President that they were the British party that wanted to find “our Obama” before Labour could.

(2)  Here’s a cover-up out of Britain far more important than Climategate out of East Anglia — A recent document dump shows that Labour’s encouragement of mass non-white immigration was purely political.  Among other things, they stopped their demonization of opponents when they learned that too many Labourites were defecting to the BNP.

Taxes and regulations created by global warming/climate change fakery can be reversed.  Once your race is gone, there’s no bringing it back.

(3)  From the other side of another pond, a former Australian PM of the country’s lamestream conservative party is calling the Howard and Rudd government’s asylum seeker detention policy “racist” because many non-whites were put into detention centers, while whites fleeing Mugabe weren’t.  He’s right — I can’t think of any reason why you would want to detain non-whites and not detain whites.

Get off Russ Carnahan’s Back

NBD that Congressman Russ Carnahan didn’t use a real gun in his photo-op at SLPD HQ last week.  He used the firearms simulator, the very same one I used back in 2000.  If you ask me, Carnahan probably learned a very good lesson from it, one that I hopes he takes back to Congress with him.

College Professors Are More Likely to Believe ‘Ten Commandments are Irrelevant Today,’ New Study Says

(CNSNews.com) – College professors are more likely than the average person to believe that the Ten Commandments are irrelevant today — and to think that America is a corrupting influence on good people, according to a new study released Monday.

Those who teach on American college campuses are more likely to agree with the statements “America corrupts otherwise good people” and  “The Ten Commandments are irrelevant today,” according to the report, which was unveiled at a news conference at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., conducted  by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, an educational organization based in Wilmington, Del.

That’s right.  We wouldn’t want good people corrupted with such nonsense like “Don’t steal,” “Don’t lie,” “Don’t murder” and “Don’t commit adultery.”

Another Four-Letter Word

22 02 2010

“Blogmeister, you haven’t said anything about CPAC.”

That’s because I don’t much care for CPAC anymore.  I knew the time of day when the CofCC ended its sponsorship of CPAC ten years ago b/c CPAC was starting to invite more and more airhead pseudo-conservative black speakers.

So it does not surprise me that CPAC has become this weird hybrid of really hard core young right wingers in the audience listening to one rancid neo-con and lamestream con after another after another after another for the most part.  It’s just like a Republican National Convention, only except their straw poll actually nominates someone for President.  Yes, I’m happy that Ron Paul won the straw poll, but we know how credible are CPAC straw polls — Mitt Romney blew away the field in CPAC’s 2007 straw poll, and McCain was way down on the totem pole.  The problem is that corporate PAC and 527 money determines the Republican Party nominee, not CPAC straw poll voters.

Something has to give.  A house divided against itself cannot stand, and neither can what CPAC was this year.  Either the hard-core righties are going to defect, or the neo-cons.  There were a gaggle of neos and lamers that boycotted CPAC b/c of too many righties, and a gaggle of righties that boycotted b/c of too many neos and lamers.  While the young hard-core righties have all the enthusiasm, the neos and lamers have all the money.  Therefore, I think the righties will blink first.

Huckabee Had the Wrong Woman On

22 02 2010

Lotsa heat on the blogosphere re Mike Huckabee and First Lady Michelle Obama.  H had O on his FNC show on the subject of childhood obesity.  It was significant because as far as the Os are concerned, FNC is the heart of the heart of enemy territory.  However, H lost a lot of weight in his latter years as Gov of AR, so he’s keen on obesity issues.

Not that I don’t agree with H, but he had the wrong woman on his show to discuss the issue.  He should have had Phyllis Schalfly, whose advice would have been more direct and more immediately effective:  Get boys off the Ritalin and into the recess yard.

I think this edict will domino to another matter, and that is, the question of imprisoned felons and voting.  The big issue there is the same:  Where does a guest of the state “live” in terms of voting?
