Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has declared this April to be Confederate History Month. His two previous successors, both Democrats in the persons of Tim “King of the Klingons” Kaine and now-Sen. Mark Warner, never did this, so it hasn’t been since 2001, Republican Jim “Happy” Gilmore’s last full year as Governor, that the year’s given April was CHM. (IIRC, both Gilmore and George Allen before him, both Republicans, did this every April of their administrations). So, in what was the Confederacy’s most important state, it’s Abraham Lincoln’s party’s modern day Governors who want to remember the Confederacy.
