Primaries and Runoff Today

1 06 2010

Primaries in AL, MS and NM, and the Blanche Lincoln-Bill Halter runoff in AR.

The only big thing that jumps out at me is GOV-AL-R.  Roy Moore is trying again, and while I liked what he did on the Alabama Supreme Court, his act got really boring really quickly.  So if he wins this primary, it will be sort of an upset.  The two big contenders are Tim James, son of former Gov. Fob James, and Bradley Byrne, who was the statewide chancellor of the Alabama J.C. system.  I don’t know enough about either one to have a preference.  There is a chance that a black will win GOV-D, that being Artur Davis, who holds AL-7 in the U.S. House ATM.  However, this Republican Primary is the election for all intents and purposes, according to credible polling.

Also from Alabama is that R-primary for Ag Commissioner.  Hope Dale Peterson does well.

AL must have moved up its primary date.  Used to be that it was in late July — The reason I know that is that the 2006 AL primaries took place during the Great St. Louis Power Outage of July 2006, and I found out about both Roy Moore and George Wallace Jr. losing their respective bids using my hand crank radio.

I haven’t seen any polling for the Lincoln-Halter runoff.  But I have seen polling that the Republican nominee, who did get more than 50%, easily beats either in November.

Tuesday’s Feels-Like-a-Monday Stack of Stuff and Headlines

1 06 2010

(1)  All the good libs who have been telling us for two generations that black and white should mix, and demand(ed) forced integration of the two, now don’t think that oil and water should mix, and are demanding segregation of the two ASAP.

(2)  Sailer:  “Nobody remembers Stan Musial.”  Ahem.

(3)  This is the fifty-eighth AQ #3 we’ve knocked off.  Good, but not inspiring.  After all, did you pay to go see The Third to the Last of the Mohicans?

(4)  I can has talon through my tiny little heart?

And a few headlines.

Missouri Net:  A vision for P-20 education (AUDIO)

It’s a vision, and we only get sound?  BTW, I guess nobody is ever going to work again, they’ll spend their whole life learning.

NYP:  City hired pervs to ref high school games

Authorities got suspicious when the ref ejected a player, told him to hit the showers, then followed him into the showers.

Take Two:  NYP:  City hired pervs to ref high school games

If it was hockey or soccer, then sending a player to the sin bin would have been cruelly ironic.

Global Cooling

1 06 2010

Soon to be a long lost memory.

What were the odds in Vegas of Al+Tipper untying the knot before Bill+Hillary?

Rush got to the question before I could, but I think I know how the judge is going to divvy up custody of the internet:  Al gets IPv4, and Tipper gets IPv6.

However, evenly dividing three 30-inch electricity-sucking computer monitors is going to be a lot harder.

They’re living separately, even as I write this.  Which one lives in the Middle Tennessee house that uses natural gas like it’s going out of style?

Al’s candidates to be his lawyer are down to two, so now all that matter is how little either George Mitchell or Bob Dole will charge him.

Last but not least, there will be a Love Story sequel portraying the events of this divorce.  The tentative title is Love’s Boring.

UPDATE 6/2: Rush chimed in today.  Like Rush, I don’t think he is having an affair.  He’s too big of a dork to have one.  Besides, there is no woman in this world who has such low self-esteem that she would let herself be his “other woman,” and have to endure his enviro-nutcase preaching.  I think Rush’s theory is closest to accurate, that the marriage hasn’t been happy for awhile, and Tipper was waiting for the nest to empty out and for Al to come into some money, and now she’s “cashing out” before the East Anglia scandal cuts into his ill-gotten fortune.

Al and Tipper were married for 40 years.  That’s long enough for four global warming armageddons.

Someone in the DC or NYC media claimed that the Gores were the likable bunch from the Clinton administration.  Really?  As if Bill and Hillary weren’t?  Hell, these were the same dingleberries and doyennes that, a mere dozen years ago at this time, did nothing about tell us about Bill Clinton’s 65% approval rating in the midst of the Congressional GOP trying to hold him accountable for committing a Federal felony while President.  It is also being said in the news of the Great Gore Knot Untying that Al Gore had the touch for the common man, because he not only went to St. Albans School in DC himself, but he also sent his four kids there.  How many common people do you know went to an elite private school that now costs 37 kilobucks a year for kids as young as the 4th grade, and in turn sent his four children there?  51 kilobucks for HS students that require room and board.

Maybe the difference in Al+Tipper and Bill+Hillary is that the latter never really held delusions about true romantic love that the former did.  I interpret Bill+Hillary as a political merger that just happened to have a little bit of sex (unless you believe the rumors that Web Hubbell is Chelsea Clinton’s real father, at which point there is no documented proof of Bill+Hillary ever doing it).  Therefore, neither Bill nor Hillary had any false hopes or expectations about each other.

UPDATE 6/9: Daughter, too:  Karenna Gore Schiff and her bankster heir husband are untying the knot.

About Al and Tipper:  How will the judge determine custody of the lockbox?  Will they saw it in half?  Divide the contents but let one of them have the actual box?

The Problematic Non-Problem…

1 06 2010

…is Racial disparities in police traffic stops in various Missouri cities, according to AG Koster.

He says it’s not a problem, but then turns right around and says that the DOJ/NAACP might hang you out to dry for said non-problem.

And in this instance, Missouri is able to keep stats on Hispanics, which the Federal and many state governments cannot seem to do when it comes to Hispanics and violent crime and welfare usage, Hispanics being counted as white in those cases.

The MO profiling law requires LEAs to keep both gender and race stats.  Yet, every year at this time, we get this report, but no gender stats.  And we certainly don’t get any paranoid hand-wringing from the media or the civil rights cabal about men being pulled over way more than women.

In a very loosely related story, the mother of a recent murder victim in the O’Fallon Park neighborhood of North St. Louis City, and her City Alderman, Antonio French, want to combat the “no snitching” culture in the area.  Maybe they should look in the mirror — I don’t know if she is a regular voter, but I know French is — I can’t say with 100% certainty that he voted for Barack “The Cambridge Cop Acted Stupidly” Obama for President, his victory meant that Eric “Nation of Cowards” Holder became USAG, but if you can prove that he didn’t, I will give you a hen with teeth every day for the rest of your life.  And what do you get with most Democrats in power?  Mandates against racial profiling, restrictive police chase policies, civil rights laws to put heavy winds to the backs of black criminal suspects within the CJ system, and civilian review boards.  IOW, any and every thing that has the disparate impact of supporting black crime.  Voting for most Democrats is morally tantamount to peddling the “no snitching” culture, IMHO.
