Mozilla is about ready to release Firefox 4.0 Beta 7. I know this, because the nightly builds are now called 4.0b8pre.
One thing that was very pleasing to me about the most recent nightlies is that the javascript performance is all around better. On Win64 builds, it’s faster than the last of the b7pre builds, but not quite as fast as Chrome (which is only 32-bit on Windows). On 64-bit Linux, the latest 64-bit Fx nightly is just about as fast as 64-bit Chrome. And by “fast,” I mean in this robot-lapping version of SunSpyder.
BTW, this should put to bed those theories that Google is jiggering around with SunSpyder to bias the results toward Chrome, a common meme among Firefox advocates.
