Pagedale teen charged with murder over cost of Thanksgiving meal
A Pagedale teen has been charged with fatally shooting another man over the cost of the Thanksgiving Day dinner.
Police say an ongoing argument over money between Corey Wiggins, 19, and Turhan Scott, 53, ended about 8 p.m. Thursday when Wiggins shot Scott seven times with a .22-caliber pistol.
At some point during a two-day argument last week, Scott threatened Wiggins with a screwdriver, police said.
Police said Wiggins and Scott continued arguing at the Thankgiving dinner table about money on Scott’s food stamps debit card used to pay for the meal.
As Wiggins was walking out a back door of the Pagedale home, Scott made another comment about the issue, prompting Wiggins to shoot Scott in the back, police said. Wiggins then shot Scott six more times.
WTF? They’re arguing over the cost of food I paid for?
That’s what crossed my mind when I read the headline. Paragraph four was merely confirmation.
