The Final 23 Minutes of Michael Brown’s Life

18 08 2014

Here’s how I think it went down, part of this consists of documented facts and part is what I tend to believe more than disbelieve.

11:41 am:  Brown and Dorian Johnson enter the Ferguson Market

Some time between 11:41 am and 11:51 am:  Someone inside the Ferguson Market, not the store owner or clerk, notices that Brown and Johnson are committing a robbery

11:51 am:  That someone calls the Ferguson P.D. to report a robbery and gives the dispatcher suspect descriptions.  (I say it wasn’t the store owner or clerk because people who own ghetto quickie marts don’t want a reputation for snitching, because they know their customers. If they get that reputation, they soon won’t have any customers, or as we saw this last week, even a store.)

11:53 am:  Brown shoves the store owner or clerk on his way out the door

Some time between 11:51 am and 12:01 pm:  The dispatcher puts out a call for an officer to respond to the Ferguson Market for a robbery, Officer Wilson, having just gotten done responding to a call for a sick infant, replies that he’ll handle it.

The time period between 11:53 am and 12:01 pm:  Brown and Johnson, just having robbed the Ferguson Market, travel on foot at some rate of speed, given the distance, probably at least at the pace of a very fast walk if not a slow run, north on West Florissant then east on Canfield.  According to Google Maps Pedometer, the distance between walking out of the FM and the spot where Brown collapsed on the pavement and died was 0.58 miles, and for them to walk that distance in eight minutes means a ground pace of 4.35 mph, which is consistent with a fast walk or a slow jog.

12:01 pm:  Officer Wilson, on his way between the sick infant and the Ferguson Market, traveling west on Canfield driving a Ferguson P.D. SUV, a Chevy Tahoe or the GMC equivalent, encounters two men walking or running in the middle of Canfield walking east, in the opposite direction.  That pisses him off, so Wilson accosts them, a short argument with Brown ensues in which Brown sticks his head into the SUV, then backs off.  Johnson was already running away from that scene, then Brown follows him after Wilson gets Brown to back off.

During this minute, Wilson did not know that Brown just did a robbery, but Brown knew that he himself just did a robbery and probably assumed that Wilson knew it.  That was going to affect the way Brown interacted with Wilson.

12:02 and 12:03 pm:  Wilson comes to know or think that the two jaywalkers he just encountered are the suspects in the robbery he’s on his way to investigate.  There are two options on how:  Option A:  Wilson gets a suspect description over the radio, and they match the two jaywakers.  Option B:  Wilson may have known all along that he was headed to a robbery that involved the stealing of cigarillos, but he never got physical suspect descriptions.  At this moment, he just realized that the big man was holding a pack of cigarillos.  A or B, Wilson gets out of the SUV to pursue them on foot, as they had not gotten that far away yet.  Johnson keeps on going, but Brown turns around and runs directly toward and at Wilson.  (LATER EDIT: Now I think, per Eric S. Raymond’s analysis of the autopsy, that Brown was almost at Wilson’s person and lunging forward toward him).  Having no other recourse with a 6’4″ 290 pound man coming at you like a speeding freight train, Wilson fires seven shots, hitting Brown in his front with six of them, killing him.

12:04 pm:  Another Ferguson P.D. vehicle arrives on the scene, with Brown already dead and laying on the Canfield Avenue pavement.

I have not included two events in this narrative:  The injuries to Officer Wilson’s face, which did happen, because I don’t know how to account for them, and the shots fired from the police SUV, because I don’t think their occurrence even meets preponderance of the evidence.  My hypothetical timeline includes events that I think meet either beyond a reasonable doubt or preponderance of the evidence.

But I can’t just construct a realistic scenario without leaving out the real world eye socket injuries to Officer Wilson.

So here’s a possible explanation to what happened at 12:01, 12:02 and 12:03 that factors that in:

Wilson gets the call for the FM robbery.  Drives west on Canfield from his last call.  He confronts Brown and Johnson jaywalking east on Canfield.  That pisses Wilson off.  Wilson stops, yells at B & J to get out of the street.  Remember, B & J know they just did a robbery, Wilson does not know, but B & J assume that Wilson does already know.  J takes off running. Brown in contrast cocks an attitude, sticks his face into the driver side window of the SUV, punches Wilson in the eye socket. Wilson gets out of the SUV.  Brown reacts by running away.  Wilson said or did something to make Brown even more anxious and angry, which gets Brown to turn around and run and then eventually lunge toward and at Wilson.  Once Brown gets close enough, and Wilson snap concludes that Brown isn’t stopping, then Wilson fires seven shots from his pistol, hitting Brown with six of them, and killing him.  All through these three minutes, Wilson either has no idea these are the suspects in the FM robbery he’s supposed to be going to, or maybe out of the side of his eye sees Brown holding the pack of cigarillos and has a hunch.  But Wilson would have too involved with Brown to pay attention to his radio, which may or may not have come across with suspect descriptions during these three minutes.  Either way I don’t think that’s germane to this hypothetical scenario.  If this is what happened, then it would not have mattered if Brown was a total choir boy up to that point in his life.  However, Brown’s part in robbing the FM is germane to his part of the scenario because he just did a strong arm robbery and a cop is in his face and in his immediate vicinity.  When you’re playing cops and robbers, robbers don’t even want to see the cops that don’t know that the robbers are robbers.

There’s now getting to be too much credible evidence of both Brown trying to reach for Wilson’s gun and the gun going off at either Brown’s or Wilson’s hand in earnest.  The happenstance of that event has now crossed over into preponderance of the evidence in my mind.

I think the events of 12:01, 12:02 and 12:03 can’t be put any better than this:

According to the well-placed source, Wilson was coming off another case in the neighborhood on Aug. 9 [the sick infant — Blogmeister Ed.] when he ordered Michael Brown and his friend Dorain Johnson to stop walking in the middle of the road because they were obstructing traffic. However, the confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, the source said.

“They ignored him and the officer started to get out of the car to tell them to move,” the source said. “They shoved him right back in, that’s when Michael Brown leans in and starts beating Officer Wilson in the head and the face. [And that’s how Wilson got the orbital blowout injuries to his eye socket — Blogmeister Ed.]

The source claims that there is “solid proof” that there was a struggle between Brown and Wilson for the policeman’s firearm, resulting in the gun going off – although it still remains unclear at this stage who pulled the trigger. Brown started to walk away according to the account, prompting Wilson to draw his gun and order him to freeze. Brown, the source said, raised his hands in the air, and turned around saying, “What, you’re going to shoot me?” [Which means that I was right all along about Brown at first moving away from Wilson and the SUV and then Brown all of sudden turning around.  Now I know that which made Brown reverse course was Wilson ordering Brown to freeze. — Blogmeister Ed.]

At that point, the source told, the 6 foot, 4 inch, 292-pound Brown charged Wilson, prompting the officer to fire at least six shots at him, including the fatal bullet that penetrated the top of Brown’s skull, according to an independent autopsy conducted at the request of Brown’s family. [Again, consistent with Eric S. Raymond’s analysis of the autopsy, even though Raymond thinks that Brown not only charged after Wilson but at one point did a forward lunge at him — Blogmeister Ed.]

12:01 is the crux.
Did the officer leave the vehicle , or did The Gentle Giant approach/charge the police cruiser?
Did the “unarmed teen” attempt to arm himself with the officers weapon?
Was one shot fired in the police car as initially reported?
That kind of “attack upon an officer of the law by a robbery suspect” will win the day for the police version of the story.
It will just confuse the hell out of the Poverty Pimping Reverends and especially those Dem. National leaders who vow appeasement, slathered with a dose of White Guilt, to all enemies of our Values.

News UPDATE: Autopsy ?
per Washington Post
Prior to 11:14am (or whilst on-the-run from a strong armed robbery of “blunts” assembly material), the The Gentle Innocent Childlike Giant was getting high on dope.

PS….with so many autopsies can’t they recover the cost of the riots from selling relics of the body parts of Michael Brown (aka :new patron Saint of Giant Thugs). They gonna carve him up like a Jennings pokchop!

I see the future of Ferguson as a Mecca for gangstas and negro malcontents wanting to kiss the sidwalk that Rev Al sat his ass on and then enshrine the middle of the street where the saintly thug made his last lunge at a White person.

Like Jackson said, there’s a Ferguson near everyone. The facts don’t matter anymore, deep in the hood its always going to be innocent black boy gunned down by racist white cop. When blacks were stirred up like this in the 60’s there were still lots of gifts and prizes to be won from the system by burning shit down, but now, 50 years later, with the entire liberal system bent over backwards to accommodate blackness at ever turn, what is the prize they expect? What new laws can be passed to significantly impact them now? What additional benefits can they get? Is it time to talk reparations now?

Maybe its simply a return to black rule in black areas. They can’t stand to be told what to do by whites, even if the result is improved living conditions. They would rather live like animals in the ghetto as long as the governing and policing faces are black, its all good.

So whites must try to move further away from the boiling hatred of the black underclass, white police will tip toe around black areas while they murder each other over tennis shoes and we all wait for the next Ferguson to erupt. Nobody in any “respectable” position of authority seems capable of having an adult conversation with the black community. Just more platitudes and come together nonsense circa 1969 that nobody believes anymore. The adults have left the building. Derbyshire may need to update his talk soon, its looking kind of tame in light of what’s been going on.

I’m still waiting to hear whether there’s dashcam video, and also whether Johnson was seen fleeing the area with a handgun as rumored.

Overall, however, I think tribal sentiments will continue to trump whatever objective data is available, because the undertow operates with a proprietary set of attitudes and assumptions intended (naturally enough) to advance and defend its own prerogatives. Same with the silly libs getting their vicarious virtue on by siding with the peaceful citizen-scholars of Ferguson despite this all beginning with what increasingly (though not yet conclusively) looks like a legal kill.

18 08 2014

There will be no dashcam video, because the SUV that Wilson was driving had none.

There is an inverse relationship between the idea’s logical correctness or sensibility and the odds that the undertow will believe it.

Via the Grio:

“It’s been very, very troubling,” Brown’s mother said during the interview. “It confirms our worst fears that the witnesses were telling the truth — that our son was shot many times. What is worst is the head shot.”

Benjamin Crump, the attorney representing the Brown family, sees the results as a validation of eyewitness claims. “This autopsy … seems to confirm our worst fears, that the witnesses were telling the truth,” he told msnbc.

Justice is the only solution to restore peace in Ferguson, Mo., said the mother of unarmed teen Michael Brown.

Justice is “being fair, arresting this man and making him accountable for his actions,” Leslie Brown said Monday on ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” about the veteran police officer who fatally shot her 18-year-old son earlier this month.

Funny, those of us in the first world take that he was shot into his front as being a huge narrative changer and bullshit refuter.

The NY Post ran a story recently on a ballsy white woman who caught and held another “unarmed teen” until police arrived after said youth and a similarly-complected accomplice had liberated the iPhone from her person. Amazingly enough this youthful prankster was described by his mother as a “good boy” too, which makes me wonder exactly what criteria the standard-issue American African relies upon to arrive at such evaluations.

[…] I refer you back to my hypothetical reconstruction of the last 23 minutes of Michael Brown’s l…, because I now have hit preponderance of the evidence on that which until about an hour ago I was most hesitant to believe, that Brown tried for Wilson’s gun and that that struggle caused one of them to fire the gun. […] All snark aside, I have no problem with discussing these things or these reform proposals.  I also have no problem with discussing this question of militarized cops.  I have a problem with doing it now and dragging Ferguson and Michael Brown’s name into it, because it creates diversions and peddles myths, (which certain kinds of people are ready to believe), and keeps people’s minds away from the truth.
