A higher minimum wage also apparently hurts immigrants, so I think the conservatives/libertarians/whoever is going to have to back down on that one.

Businesses will either have to hire employees that justify the wage, or invest in new capital, technology, methods of production and so on to replace those employees.

My speculation that higher urban min wages is a de-NAM-ification effort on the sly is because these higher min wages are only being proposed and implemented in big cities, not everywhere. Sure, the Dems want to raise the national min wage, but it would be nowhere near as high as the urban min wages.
