It Could Be a Thing, or It Could Be Just One of Those Things

Donora, Pennsylvania

Stan the Man, and both Griffeys, and a few other professional sports figures.  This town is pretty close to Pittsburgh, but too far away to be considered a suburb.  We do know that Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas of western Pennsylvania are known for a lot of big name quarterbacks.

Any theories?  Or is it just a coincidence?

If this is a cluster, then I think it has something to do with the area’s former mass employment heavy industrial economy inculcating a mentality in the long time residents that made it really conducive for team sports.  It’s part of the reason why, historically, Bos-Wash and Great Lakes sports fans have a more passionate reputation than California’s.
