It Was Bound to Happen

Manhattan

I already have grumblings.

* Mike Pompeo, who has already gotten the CIA nod, is anti-Snowden, thinks he deserves the death penalty. I think he deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

* James Mattis, who is being seriously considered for Defense, is a big advocate of using the American military to spread duhmocrazy around the world, and developed the COIN (Counter-Insurgency) military strategy.  In contrast, I am of the same mind of those in the military that voted for Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012, that the best strategy is RDCT (Rubble Doesn’t Cause Trouble).

Trump said from the beginning, that Snowden is a spy who should be executed. Nobody’s perfect.

mattis strategy seemed more to just kill everyone than spread democracy. even the guys at sofrep say he’s more a war fighter than anything else

I haven’t really heard anything negative about Mattis. Do you have a source for him wanting to Make the World Safe for Democracy?

I’d already seen those quotes. The one wherein he addresses democracy is in parentheses. The link to the original source is dead. It looks like it could be an editorial comment to explain his statement. It’s hard to know the context.

Otherwise, he seems to enjoy killing the enemy.

I’d never heard of that Pompeo character. I think I’d be a lot more worried about him than about Mattis, and not because of Snowden. He seems to be advocating NSA collection of “metadata.” I’d like to see a clarification during the Senate hearings. I’ve got no problem with collecting data on foreigners. I do have a problem with them collecting data on us.

we in KS are familiar with Mr. Pompeo: an honorable, traditional “old school” conservative with a good military background: west point 1986 grad (1st in class), active duty army cav officer 4 or 5 years – then went to Harvard law. did well as congressman – speaks up, battles the left – couldn’t keep Boeing in Wichita, tho. probably read Wm Lind but won’t admit it.

trump seems to be leaning hard right/old school with his picks – filling positions w/ trad cons rather than libertarian (or alt-light) cons – or is pence picking these folks – w/ trump meeting them to see if they can get along?

with the left doubling down as hysterically as ever, trump/pence must sense in 2 years people might be sicker yet of the left, hence the trad right folks. crossing the aisle for Jim Webb is a good idea (not much of an aisle) & wait till after midterm elections (or 2020) to cross the other aisle – the alt right aisle. or at least cross the honorary alt right aisle for ann coulter.

Thanks. I knew he had graduated from West Point and Harvard Law School. The only information I had about the guy was from the media. I figured that there was a fair chance that they were misrepresenting his positions.

I didn’t know Lind was still writing. Looks like I’ve got some catching up to do.

Boy Who Accused Jeff Sessions of Racial Remarks Was Later Indicted for Bribery

http://lawnewz.com/uncategorized/doj-attorney-who-blocked-sessions-from-judgeship-over-racial-concerns-was-later-indicted/

In 1992, the boy, who had become a defense attorney, was indicted on federal charges for allegedly offering a $50,000 bribe to a convicted drug dealer who was set to testify against his client, according to a 1992 New York Times report. The boy maintained that the charges were retaliation for him testifying against — and effectively blocking — the nomination of Sessions.
