Let’s Think This Through

NYP:

Huffington Post editor’s tweet sparks FBI investigation

The FBI is investigating a Huffington Post scribe for joking about “destroying Trump ballots” at a Washington, DC, voting site, the reporter claimed.

Even if the word “joking” was not used here, I would have already figured off top that he was joking.

How do I know this?

The race to the gold star starts…NOW.

Off the top of my head would be the stat quoted by Derbyshire in regards to DC voting for Clinton in greater percentages than any other demographic. No need to destroy any of the 6 or so percent of ballots that were for Trump.

That was quick.

In case you don’t do Disqus, I’ll cut and paste:

I know off top he was joking.

He said he destroyed Trump ballots in Washington DC.

Problem is, Trump got only 4% of the vote in D.C.

If you actually do want to destroy Trump ballots, D.C. is not the place to do it.

The other problem is that it’s not worth the time and effort to destroy Trump ballots in a “state” that Hillary was going to win by gigantic margins anyway. If you’re going to do something like this, you do it in a deep red part of a swing state. Because the box you’re throwing away is very likely to be heavily Trump votes, and you’re doing it in a way where your actions would have the best chance of exercising actual marginal leverage over the way the state votes and the electoral college. But the odds of being able to do that in a deep red part of a swing state are very low, because there are too many honest sets of eyeballs looking on.

The other problem still is that it’s impossible to destroy ballots for a given candidate without actually seeing them, which means you have to break into the very secure ballot boxes.

Four years ago, we got news that there were a bevy of urban ghetto precincts in some cities where there were either only zero, one or two raw votes cast for Mitt Romney. Some people took that as evidence of fraud. I never did, because of what I just wrote above: It would take busting into the secure ballot storage devices, hunting through the hundreds or thousands of ballots actually cast, looking for the scant handful that were Romney votes, then throwing them away. When if you’re going to use that time and energy for voter fraud, the far more effective way to pull it off is to stuff those boxes with extra Obama votes. That Romney got 0, 1 or 2 raw votes out of a scattering of ghetto precincts is not evidence of fraud, it’s evidence of ghetto.

Who in DC would cast a vote that might jeopardize their phony baloney job?
