No Hetero

When straight men compliment each other, we will often appendage our compliment with the phrase “no homo,” as if we have to make it perfectly clear that our compliment has no romantic connotation.

Question:

When gay men compliment women, or when lesbian women compliment men, do they appendage their compliments with “no hetero?”

Short answer, no in both cases. Long answer, gay men compliment women in ways that could never be mistaken for straight-men compliments: “love your shoes, girlfriend!” said no straight man ever. Lipstick lesbians compliment men in typical straight-woman fashion, leaving things ambiguous for the purposes of manipulation. Bull dykes don’t compliment anyone.

I always say, “But not in a homo way”.

I don’t know anyone who uses the “no homo”, we just lob the compliment out and leave it hanging…You know the guy is cool if he replies, “Thanks, faggot”.

No homo, haven’t heard that one. I usually say “but not in a homo way” myself, depending on the audience.
