St. Louis City

Census estimates that the city’s population declined last year by some 3,400 people to about 311,000.

Why it might be good news.

What this gets wrong:

The Census does an actual count of all people every 10 years; in between, it provides estimates, which it says were very accurate between 2000 and 2010.

Their per-year estimates between 2000 and 2010 for St. Louis City were anything but accurate. They showed an increasing population, but when they actually counted in 2010, it turned out that there was actually the same ole population decline during the decade. It’s obvious what was going on: Census was for political reasons goosing around with the methodology to show St. Louis’s (and other cities’) populations as increasing when they were doing no such thing, in order to do a political favor for big city mayors.

Notice St. Louis County’s population also dropped below 1 million.

St. Louis County has been teetering on either side of a million for quite awhile.

Depends on who was subtracted. All animals are not equal.

That’s what I mean. If most of the loss comes from ghetto L’Booshondrias, then the city is better off.

OTOH, if it was more White Flight…
If d’Boonybooty left the ghetto with her six keeds, they probably moved into (and ruined) a good neighborhood, rather than a different ghetto. Subtraction by Addition.

My same thoughts about my current town, Baltimore. More areas are gentrifying and I see we lost a fair amount of population. Less can be better depending on who left and who is still around.

It's your dime, spill it. And also...NO TROLLS ALLOWED~!
