Test Me

Your Blogmeister’s Secret Hideout

Remember back on Friday the post about how Norm said I had a zealous look in my eyes?

I now not only think it meant something, but I also think I know what it foretold.

I get the feeling a lot of my heretofore missing short term memory has snapped back into place.

Listen, peanut gallery, I need some help.  If you think you might be someone I haven’t inherently remembered since my return to functional coherence about two months ago, and someone I should remember, and that’s most of you reading these words, quiz me in the comment box, or e-mail me directly using the Contact Me box.  I will respond with what I think I inherently know about you off the top of my head, and I promise no cheating by using DuckDuckGo or searching this blog’s comment archives or my e-mail archives, and of course I’ll leave out details the world doesn’t need to know if you quiz me below in the comment box.  Then tell me if I’m right or wrong or somewhere in between.

I need a quick and dirty test of my short term memory, is what I’m saying.

I’ve been chating with you for years both here and on Twitter (and Amren before that) before you abandoned that forum, you’ve often posted stuff I’ve sent you from my city of current residence. Where am I?

That’s a winner!

Alright Dan

I don’t think I’ve really said anything about myself here, but I’ll let myself be used as a lab mouse anyway.

You’ve sorta implied that you’re here locally, and I figure your screen name is an allusion to the Frank O’Pinion show.

All right. While you were away in the brain, Frank O’Pinion and Larry Connors too moved from 550 to 590.

Whence do I hail?

From Mid-Missouri’s ninth circle of noxious political hell, indicated on maps as “Columbia.”

Good deal, Count.

Now I’m going to do something you sometimes say you do but with a twist because I’m me:

I’m going to do a victory lap in my official unmarked department car.

I’m not a doctor, but one thing I learned pretty quick getting into this line of work is that you can get pretty good reads of people paying attention to their eyes. Who to trust, who to not trust, who is lying to you, and who is telling you the truth.

Now it’s been twice that I have been able to predict big sudden jump improvements in your condition because of weird goings in in your eyes.

Here’s a question that has nothing to do with me (I don’t comment enough for you to know me much). Which former National Review writer has commented here and quoted you in his most recent book?

You, I’ll deal with you first. Rural Oregon plays into your life, somehow.

As for your question, that would be none other than John Derbyshire.

I certainly know it isn’t David French!

You’re remembering better than I am, I’d forgotten that I mentioned my brother and father live in Central OR. And Derb FTW.

What site did I cause you to register an account on?

And an account I hardly ever use, that being My Posting Career.

Uh, yeah. You owe me $500. Or, did you forget?

I’ll give you an A for effort.

I’ve passed every test given to me here in the comment section.

Most of you have e-mailed me, and among those, my success rate is decidedly less than perfect.

I’ve also looked over my ‘Dex, to see who I can now remember that I didn’t before, and it’s most of them.

Combine these all together and I figure it’s around 80%.

Needless to say, I’ve got something to talk about when I see the docs tomorrow.

And now that my short term memory is starting to come back together, looks like I’ll be spending a good chunk of today either on the phone or on the e-mail.
