Rush

Limbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Quite a few years ago, and mindful of the fact that he liked to play Mannheim Steamroller as bumper music during Christmas, Rush revealed the fact that his patrilineal ancestral village was near Mannheim, named Limbach. Obviously, that was their original last name, and they Anglicized it when they migrated to the Pennsylvania Dutch region at first, and then to southeast Missouri.

Wikipedia lists five different towns named Limbach in modern day Germany, and the Michelin Road Atlas index lists twelve of them. But the one in particular, I’ve seen. It was on the Great 2018 Summer Voyage. You head east out of Heidelberg along a road that runs along the north bank of the meandering Neckar River, for about an hour. Then you turn left on this country road and head up and away from the river for maybe about ten minutes, and you’re there. Plain words, you’ve got to be going there to get there, you don’t land there by accident.

And now I think that a lot of people are going to hear about this town, and, at least when it’s feasible to do international travel again, a lot of conservative Americans will do a pilgrimage there. For those of you who will eventually do that, I should say there’s not much there, so you’ll probably want to stage your accommodations in Heidelberg (one of the most underrated cities in Germany, IMHO — Do the Philosophers’ Walk if you have a brain), or Mannheim if you’re feeling ironic.

As if life has a way to engage in ironic trolling:

(1) Someone mailed a letter bomb to the world HQ of Lidl, earlier today, in Neckarsulm. As you can see from the name of the city, it is along the Neckar. But further upstream from where I described, which is close to where the Neckar ends and dumps into the Rhine.

(2) My next road trip will be early next month to Stuttgart for a few days. It is along…you guessed it. And no, I’m not doing anything car-related.

A major Boomer event, the passing of Rush. He was their prophet.

The vacuum cleaner was also quite amusing.

Long before this Rush became someone, the Limbaughs were the Republican Party family in southeast Missouri, and in most of the post-WWII period until, well, you know who, they’ve swung a very big stick in statewide Republican politics, and even had national influence.

His eponymous grandfather was practicing law after he turned 100.

Antifa was created for women who are too ugly to be feminists.

In spite of all this, there has been virtually zero interest from the German right-of-center media, much less the mainstream media, about his passing.

I should add that Jared Taylor by name and AR by publication name and the NCF by organization name were mentioned once on his show that I know of. It was when Walter Williams (go figure) was guest hosting in the late 1990s, and he bought up The Color of Crime in passing.

Alright Dan

OT maybe, but I heard a radio ad a short while ago for this Babel, or maybe it’s spelled Babble, learn a language quick service. It was about why you would want to learn whatever foreign language. When it got to German, it said “to take a new job”. I guess we’re all supposed to associate German with employment and industriousness.

I can get Babbel’s German language chauvinism. Its parent company is based in Berlin. Though I wish Germans were just as jealous about their language as they are chauvinistic, because they put up with creeping Anglicisims and Americanisms in a way that the country next door does not.

Really though, the best reason to learn German is because you want God to understand you.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this part, but they buried him up in Bellefontaine. They say security was tight, but the real reason was because of where Bellefontaine is, not who Rush was.

I find it weird that they picked Bellefontaine, instead of some place in or near Cape.

Quite a few famous people at Bellefontaine and neighboring Calvary, including Sherman.

It's your dime, spill it. And also...NO TROLLS ALLOWED~!
