He’s a doctor, but you get the sense that he’d rather be black for a living.  Perhaps he’s on his way of being the Ta Coates of physicians.  In which case it would make sense for him to speak and write of black bodies often, unlike Ta.

And also, he’ll never let us forget that someone microaggrieved him by mistaking him for the maintenance man.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but the stethoscope on the book cover is intentionally shaped like a noose, although it could also represent a slave collar.

Thank you for pointing out that trigger image. Were it not for your doing so, all I’d have seen was a set of hands holding a stethoscope in a manner I have seen quite a few times in my life.

From personal experience, you can never take these tales of being microaggrieved at face value.

Odd, but until now I overlooked the even more obvious reference to a man holding a whip behind his back, no doubt preparing to punish a rebellious slave.

THE ONLY REASON Blacks have become educated in anything was because they lived among whites and their technological achievements. What, you think that all those slaves that got off the boats brought their advanced magical voodoo and taught whites medicine.Or maybe blacks learned open heart surgery from the Aztecs and showed this to the white man.

Don’t you remember black history class?

What happened was that we crawled out of our caves on all fours, after we got through fucking dogs, and crawled south all the way to Africa, enslaved all the black kings and queens, and stole all their knowledge. Then loaded the kings and queens on boats, shipped them to the other side of the world, and told ’em to pick cotton.

It's your dime, spill it. And also...NO TROLLS ALLOWED~!
