DeLeo: Mass. EBT cash shouldn’t go overseas
House Speaker Robert DeLeo is sounding the alarm on a new frontier of potential welfare abuse, telling the Herald he wants safeguards on the Bay State’s multibillion-dollar remittance business that he fears could be siphoning taxpayer cash to foreign countries.
DeLeo said he has no sense how much welfare cash, if any, is being funneled overseas, but that the uncertainty alone is a concern.
“I think it’s wrong to be happening, no matter who it’s being sent to,” DeLeo said. “I just want to make sure it isn’t going on, that Massachusetts taxpayer money is staying in Massachusetts.”
DeLeo is pushing legislation as part of the state’s new welfare reform bill that would prohibit Bay State recipients from using their EBT cards — and the cash assistance they carry — for international wire transfers.
Of the $2.4 billion that money-transfer companies reported wiring out of country in 2012, 40 percent of it went to five countries, according to data from the state Division of Banks. Brazil received $333 million; the Dominican Republic, $220 million; Guatemala, $144 million; El Salvador, $130 million; and China, $118 million.
“For us to have any discussion of our money going overseas is appalling to me,” the Winthrop Democrat said. “I can fully understand and appreciate people, no matter what ethnic group they may be of, sending money to family member overseas who are in need — as long as it’s not taxpayer money.”
Also tucked in the comprehensive bill is another DeLeo-backed measure to keep groceries bought with welfare benefits stateside. By requiring that groceries be for “home consumption and use,” the legislation addresses an area of fraud highlighted by a series of New York Post reports in July that found Big Apple welfare recipients buying food in the U.S. and shipping it in large plastic barrels, mainly to Caribbean countries, where it opened a black market for the taxpayer-funded goods.
The same bins are sold in some Boston supermarkets, though it’s unclear how rampant the practice may be in the Bay State.

Robert DeLeo probably wants to make all this moot by importing these people and giving them EBT cards, voter registration cards and eventually citizenship.

Seems to me there are lots of people from Brazil, Dominican Republican, Guatemala, El Salvador and China in Massachusetts.
The liberals seem to have no concept of limits to growth. They are Cornucopians, growing the population to the breaking point because it gives them liberal paychex patronage jobs and hurts the white people they hate.
They don’t realize it’s going to hurt them most of all when the Paychex run out and they are surrounded by no-longer-grateful darkies.
It’s interesting to see someone like Thom Hartmann, who does believe in limits to growth, yet advocates for more non-white immigration on the basis that whites deserve to be punished (except somehow he’ll escape this punihsment himself cause he’s a goody liberal). Jim Goad calls it Passover Syndrome.
Look into the concept of “ecological services” if you haven’t already. The economy comes from the ecology, but economists ignore ecological services completely. They take it for granted. I can tell you, soil scientists, hydrologists, petroleum engineers, integrated pest managers, ranchers, and plant breeders do not take ecological services for granted.
The failure of ecological services to “feed the world” is going to be our salvation and a great hardship at the same time. The ruling oligarchs are scared to death of the Malthusian scenario. they won’t be able to control the world via leverage any more when the limits to growth hit. they seem to be trying to take it slow by crashing the economy. notice that oil is cheaper lately. that’s demand destruction — unemployment, Americans no longer driving cars. at the same time they import iommigrants give them welfare. amazing.
I have been developing how to grow food and what to grow for the past ten years for survival. Winter squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage, beets, fruit trees (pears mostly). and raising black soldier fly larvae in summer when it’s warm.
I think things will go well for white people when food prices go up, because then we’ll be able to make a living on our little plots of land and work with local farmers for trade and barter. this is something I do’t think the darks or the Jews are going to be able to mess with. we’ll finally have some power, even just some local autonomy, and we’ll be able to tell political correctness to fuck off.
